Christian Organizations on Campus

I was wondering what type of Christian organizations there were on campus??? My S just visited CalTech this weekend and was a little disappointed in the culture of the school. He is very involved in his church having spent this past spring break in El Salvador on a missionary trip. I know that not every student will have that type of interest but am wondering if there are plenty of opportunites to get involved in Christian activities.

This is not intended to start a discussion about ideology or faith so please... I'm just wondering what activities are available and how prominent they are on campus.

I’m not involved in any, but I know some friends who are involved in Intervarsity Christian Fellowship (ICF) and bible studies, etc. You can find groups here:

myGroups@Stanford[/url”>http://mygroups.stanford.edu/]myGroups@Stanford

click “advanced search” and under group type, choose “religious” and hit search

Just a glance shows that at least half of these 42 groups are Christian.

Thank you so much. I will show them to my S and am sure he will be excited.

You’re welcome  I’ll add that your son should really look into ICF. I’m not religious, but I remember (freshman year) being a little jealous of the community that ICF people seemed to have formed so quickly. They seemed close-knit early on, were out doing epic pranks on each other, etc.

That MyGroups link seems to about have it covered. I’d check out the various groups’ websites to see what they’re like–if he has strong preferences about what sort of theology or denominational affiliation he’s looking for, that should give a pretty good idea.

There’s no substitute, though, for just going to some meetings to see. In particular, the groups vary a lot in size and level of activity.
