<p>@alexander: so what happens in the second round? is there an interview? any idea why you got into the first round last year and similarly, why you didn’t get past the second?</p>
<p>^After the first round it’s up to the finalists to email labs until they get an offer (if they do).</p>

<p>Lol yeah. We’re competing for the funding. I assume the lab gets some kind of grant for having us and also we get a massive stipend.</p>
<p>also, i don’t think the professors are allowed to accept people not first accepted in the program.</p>

I am so, so happy!! I don’t have any lab experience and this is my first time applying, so I’m just so thrilled right now.</p>

<p>Thank you! I sent in my high school transcript (I’m a junior, 11th grade) as well as a teacher rec. Yup, I’m down to the final 100! I actually didn’t get a formal acceptance letter. I found out when a professor emailed me, told me I was a finalist, and offered me an interview! I think that everyone will get their emails by the end of the week. <p>I’m so nervous. I get like a million emails every day from various colleges (damn psat), and every single time my phone buzzes my heart rate speeds up and I get soooo nervous as I open the email. Then it’s just some stupid random email. I hope we hear by tomorrow so I can relax this weekend.</p>
