Civil Engineer Help

Hey, I'm an incoming freshmen for RIT, but I found out something weird about my intended major. The whole time I intended to be Civil Engineer but my friend just recently pointed out that my major is actually Civil Engineering Technology. So is this going to be bad for my future? Is it possible for me to still go into Civil Engineering? And could I transfer to a different school with Civil Engineering? Help would be greatly appreciated. :]

It’s completely different. You MUST have an ABET accredited engineering degree in order to go anywhere in civil engineering. My advice would be to get out while you still can.

Oh I see, thanks. :\ But another question, my friend suggested I try to switch out into Mechanical Engineering and hope to transfer to a different school and switch back into Civil Engineering. Is that a good idea? o_O
