Claremont Colleges Cross Major

My friend got into Pitzer College and Pomona College for economics, but she got rejected from Claremont McKenna College for Econ-accounting. Can she still complete the econ-accounting major from Pitzer or Pomona?

Bump!!!

My understanding of the way it works is that you can take courses at the other 5C colleges but that you can’t major in a department that isn’t located on your own campus. Based on that general caveat, the question becomes whether Econ-Accounting is a major that is so unique to Claremont McKenna that a majority of the courses can’t be completed at Pitzer or Pomona? At first blush it would seem to be one of the few instances where the consortium system is less than the sum of its parts.

At Pitzer, Scripps and CMC, students may choose existing majors at the other Claremont Colleges provided that the fields are not offered as majors at their home institutions. At Pomona, students can and do create their own majors and complete substantial coursework at the partnering colleges, and this is likely true for students at the other member colleges as well.

Johnwesley, the 5C’s consortium is a fantastic asset for students.
