Was rejected at 1:40 PM Chicago Time today.
They ARE sending their rejections in waves.

Looks like they’re rejecting starting from the east coast and making their way to the west. Any acceptances thus far? Any rejections on the west coast?

Nothing on the east coast. Might be by last name; mine starts with Z.

i feel like it’ll be just rejections right now, as someone earlier had said, i think they’re “weeding out” the weakest ones and sending out the rest of their decisions over time.

but anyone did get in, i’d like to know haha

I was thinking last names too… Anyone who has received rejections care to help?

If they were doing it based on last name, they would at least need to save a couple of names for the waitlist, yes?

My last name is W. Have not received a rejection…Yet…

@immadinosaur: ““weeding out” the weakest ones”<-- um, I’ve been to intel ISEF for two years, did research since freshman year, doing IB and AP, and have a ton of other ECs and national to international recognitions … meanwhile, there are people who say they’ve never done research before and this is their first time …

No Obstacle, what’s the first letter of your last name, out of curiosity…

@NoObstacle: Is the applicant pool really all stronger than that then? D:

starts with an F

Lol let’s not fight. NoObstacle, your resume is obviously super impressive. I’m sorry you didn’t get in ): You will do other great things, no doubt.

sorry, I’m just really mad.

@NoObstacle - that wasn’t a dig at you, I promise. I get that you’re a fantastic student and scientist, and while i’m extremely jealous of your accomplishments, keep in mind that these selective programs probably aren’t going to base their decision solely off of the number of accomplishments the applicants have.

I’m just going to sit here quietly while I wait for my rejection lol…

They might be going by last name but I find that strange… I feel like some screening has had to happen between the deadline and now or else why would the deadline be so early!

Ms. Durham might just be emailing them out one at a time to make sure each rejection is sent properly as they don’t want a mass letter sent out…

Just thoughts… But good luck to all of us waiting. I can hope, but I expect little :/

If you don’t want to hear me rant, please ignore this post.
After being rejected and therefore, being partisan to this subject matter, I don’t fathom how people can tremendously base one’s vehemence in science through essays. This doesn’t just apply to Clark Scholars, but to most other programs too. With this kind of notion, scientists aren’t accepted; rather, the most majestic writers are. I’m not trying to come off as pompous, but just typing with a stream of consciousness perspective and yes, trying to vent my anger in hopes of placating myself.

I think it’s more like the admissions for Clark are just more unpredictable. With only 12 people, they might only take 1 or 2 in your subject area. Your areas of interest also have to match with somebody there: mine, for instance, is Quantum Computation, which means that my chances are 0 if they don’t have any faculty working on that. I think that’s the major factor that decides who gets in, since they probably get over a hundred ISEF applicants.

… that means i have 0 chance of getting in too ROFL
if it’s like that, then the people who get in could have just copied and pasted reports from the TTU mentors, which is pretty flawed :S

Name starts with a W, rejected at 1:52 PM today Central Time. Oh well, wasn’t expecting to get in anyways :P, having gotten HM at regional science fair the past three years -______-

Ok, so it turns out my parents know one of the mentoring professors from college… mindblown.
