Class of 09...list your courses!

Well I just wanna know what incoming freshman from all over the world are taking this fall :-) (list all the courses for the whole year), to see what other high schools offer for freshman.

Mine:
Honors Algebra II/Trig
Honors English I
Honors Physics
World History I
Spanish I
Computing Across the Curriculum
Debate Club
Debate Class

not '09 but i'm glad someone is going with debate. what kind of debate are you going to try (LD or Policy)?

I think I'm learning both and will be trying both, or at least it says so in the course catalog.

Well, here was my very embarrassing schedule last year, no doubt responsible for my summer program rejections. (j/k) ;) It was at a junior high so I had no choice.

English 9 (yep, not honors 'cuz I failed the entrance exam)
WA State/Pac Rim
Physical Science
Pre IB Advanced Algebra/Trigonometry
PE
Library Assistant
French 100

Fall JRS110 Junior Studies
MAT001 Math Placement (probably algebra2/trig)

BIO110 Biology (to get it over with so I can save the best for last, physics)
HHD110 Health
ART202 Ceramic Form

JPN001 Japanese Placement
HIS165 Asian Civs:Origins to 1600

and I'm going to be joining a bunch of clubs but I'm not worrying about that right now.

Next year I'm going to be doing most of the computer prgramming courses and maybe photography.

All year:
Algebra II/Trig (probably honors)
Humanities III
Physics First
Spanish I
Applied Music
Fall:Instructional Squash (I have no fall sport and I've always wanted to learn how to play)
Winter: Hopefull JV Squash (but I know SPS has a REALLY great squash team, so probably not, but anyway)
Spring: JV Crew

Does Exeter have instructional squash during fall because I only say instructional crew...

IM a junior and i was just curious what your schedules are... how can you guys take algebra2/trig and physics as freshman? especially the trig aspect. And is physics an alternate to chemistry 1, or what? Its very fascinating. Those are mainly sophomore and junior classes at my school...

At these boarding schools, you can elect the order you take your sciences in. Basically the schedule is setup like a colleges where you make most of the decisions. In the mathematics aspect, I believe you can place in Algebra 2 and Trig if you are good enough... the schools don't restrict you at all. PM me if you have any questions.

I took Algebra in 7th, Geometry now, and Algebra II/trig next year, I'm pretty sure I'll do very well on the placement tests. At SPS you take sciences in reverse order (Physics, Chemistry, Biology).

Oh, I thought you could elect the order in which you did your sciences at SPS too. My bad. St. Mark's made students take the sciences in that order too. Reason being that not only do more students continue the sciences as electives later on, but if you have a thorough understanding of physics, it will help you somewhat in chemisty. If you understand the principles behind chemistry, it'll allow you to study biology in more depth. Basically it is set up so that each science feeds off the other... at least that's what the department head I asked said...

Eh, private schools like to mess the course orders around a bit. But I think it's quite fun lol.

AP English
AP Calc BC
AP US History
AP French
AP Biology
AP Chemistry
AP Physics

haha. graduate in one year!

oasis, is that really your course load?!?!? and for only one year?? My college wouldn't allow me to take a course load as rigorous as that!!

obviously, i was just kidding :P

When I was in ninth grade I took one honors class but from sophmore to junior it has been all AP and honors classes-Its a good thing that I took one honors class in 9th grade because it shows an upward trend which colleges like.

At SPS during your first year there aren't many honors classes you can take, just in math and foreign language I think.

All year:
Geometry
Physics ( those 2 are looking like honors right now.)
English 9
French ( looking like 4th year right now)
Chorus
Band

First term only:
Leadership Seminar
Introductory Computer Science
History of the Middle East ( picked that from about 6 other courses)

Second term only:
Early Modern Europe ( instead of Modern European History)
Ethics
Acting 1

The only electives are arts and, to some extent, History. I'm also gonna take Ballet class, try out for the two musicals, and play on softball for my sports credits. I'm also gonna see if I have time for Archives club and Broadway club.

class of 09...*** are they? like sixth graders?

Haha, no. If you read the first post, it says that they are incoming freshman.

Or in other words, 8th graders.
