Class of '13 Applicants to NYU!

Hey guys, my name is Jehovany (giovanni) and I applied early decision and took my two sat 2 test today. =]. I'm hoping to get in through HEOP and early decision would further increase my chances but I will see. good luck everyone

I'm Anna from New York City, NY... and I am hoping to get into the liberal arts and science program at NYU! :p

Good luck monologue! Enjoy the city while you're there.

haha yeah, we'll all be counting down the days once December comes. Only a month away, dum dum dum!

Welcome to our little hole in the world wide web guys. :) Good luck

congratulations to everyone who submitted his or her application recently. I'm so nervous--even though I submitted mine October 5.

I e-mailed admissions like a week ago and changed the school I applied to from CAS to Steinhardt because I wanted to change from psychology to applied psychology at Steinhardt. Now I'm nervous that I changed schools like 2 weeks after I submitted my application. I wasn't going to change it at first because I was afraid it would make me look indecisive or something but then I thought about the fact that I would be attending orientation for CAS and would have to wait until classes started so that I might or might not be able to change schools. In other words, disaster. So I changed it. They put this footnote deal on the bottom of my confirmation e-mail about how I applied to psychology at CAS and that there was the applied psychology major that might make more sense at Steinhardt, and if I wanted to change it, I could e-mail admissions and let them know. So I figured it would be OK.

sorry for typing all of that. and for boring you.

I'm just very, very nervous.

But good luck to everyone. It's my opinion that all the CC kids should get in. I mean, come on. We all obviously want it badly enough.

Yeah totally, we take time out of our lives to worry about getting into NYU on an online forum, haha.

Good luck to you man! It's nice how they gave you that footnote, makes it seem all that more personal, you know? Haha

i knowww.
ugh i dont wanna wait

Lol 28 Days Later....

i never saw that...

assuming your chosen school didnt change, you can easily internally transfer from CAS to steinhardt (only internally transferring to CAS and Stern is harder). it will not affect your classes in the first year because it is likely you will be taking the core MAP courses.

Chris: yeah, you just send in your forecast results. For American kids there's a SAT cut-off! I know for dentistry its like 2200 or something.

Aw that sucks, my grades are only average for NYU, so I'm depending a lot on my essays and portfolio, haha.

Yeah the 7 year BBS program has a SAT cutoff, but that's only cause it's undergrad and grad.

^ haha yeah me too, chris. If you don't mind me wasking, what are your grades?

My GPA's 3.8 weighted, a lot better in Social Studies and English than Math and Science (98s vs. 91s). I got a 2040 SAT score 750 CR 630 M 660 W, took it two times, got a 1900 first time.

I'm just in the middle 50% range for NYU, so I'm glad about that. You?

^ we're kinda like the same person. I have a 3.7. I took the SAT twice- 1st time I got 2010, second I got 2030. 700CR, 650M, 680W.
Question- when they superscore your writing, do they take the highest grammar score and the highest essay score and put them together? or do they jut take the highest overall score?

They just take the highest writing score, I don't think they'll go as far as recalculating it with the higher essay score.

I think we're good though, cause I heard that for Tisch once you reach their academic standards than it's all portfolio/audition based.

I got a 30 Composite for the ACT, but if I superscore it with the 29 that I recieved, it ends up being a 30.5, does that become a 31 then?

Hey Im a guy from NH and I am knew to this whole site. I like it alot and im glad i found this forum. I do have a few questions becuase you seem like experts. I applied ED to NYU, with the intent to pursue Middle Eastern and Islamic Studies. I have a very hard time with standardized tests. I got a 1600 on the SAT and 600 and 500 on the subject tests. The rest of my credentials are fine. However, with that being said, do I have any chance here with those scores.

Huge disadvantage with those scores knucleball9 since the NYU average is 1350-1440 and that's only out of Math and Reading, but you never know, anything's possible.

I guess so mwproven, when you superscore it can only go up lmao

No, I appreciate it. I know the scores are a huge disadvantage. I know someone who goes there now and he said he knows people who got those scores. Time will tell. Thanks.

They might be from HEOP, which is an program for low-income NY residents (mostly minorities) who wouldn't be able to get into NYU otherwise based on their stats.
