Class of '13, we can finally make our emails!

Just for anyone who doesn't know yet, we can finally create our VUnet IDs, which means getting our Vandy emails! Someone posted the info earlier today on the facebook group which got me excited, and looks like other people in the group are as well. The admissions office didn't send anything about this, so I think it deserves a thread to inform the masses. That, or I'm overly zealous haha.

anyways, the email will be:
firstname . middleinitial. lastname @ Vanderbilt . Edu

Makes me feel official, so awesome.

FYI, the VUNetID uses all lower case letters, including V for vanderbilt and E for edu. At least its that way for VU staff and employees. If you are having any trouble, try using all lower case characters. If not, then never mind!

Hello Everyone,

Just a head's up that a few months ago it was discovered that an online marketing company was hiring people to generate "Official Class of 2013" groups. Please beware of Facebook groups. There is no way to verify that group administrators are who they say they are.

To read about what is known as "Facebookgate" check out this link:

Happy surfing,
Brad

yeah, that old 2013 group was deleted by facebook. The administrator was the same in almost every 2013 group then.
But this new one was created after that got deleted and everyone is from hs class of '09, so I'm pretty sure it's legitimate.

I like how vandyadmissions likes to visit us sometimes.

Though, it would have been funnier if he would have been more succinct and said "IT'S A TRAP!"

...or maybe I'm just nerdy.

Haha no I agree. That is a plenty appropriate Star Wars reference.

We actually can make our VU emails and net ids or whatever. But in response to the Class of '13 group on facebook...someone had made one before ED1 decisions came out and around dec 15 everyone joined it. A week later messages were posted talking about the College ******* 'scam' and then it was promptly deleted. The next day a high school graduate of 2009 who was confirmed ED1 created the new group. So I think we're all safe there. It was so strange to watch it happen then have the group not even exist.

how do i sign up for the email if i did not provide my social security number on my application?
