Where do you check status on the website?

Unless something has changed at Elon, the online status check (at Ontrack on the Elon website) has nothing to do with the MT decision. At Elon, academic decisions are made independently of the MT decisions. For example, my daughter applied EA last year, so was in to the University in December, but not for MT. The status check says "accepted undecided MT" I think or something like that. All letters from the MT department in the past have said "this decision is dependent on your academic acceptance to Elon University" or something like that. Never heard of the online check saying "in committee". That's a new one! The last audition date at Elon is today. My daughter is helping with the dance audition which starts at 2:00, so if you are there and see a tiny Asian girl, say hello and that you know of her from CC. She won't be surprised!!! I imagine MT decisions will be made soon. Last year she received her acceptance phone call on March 7th (we'll never forget that date!!!) but the last audition last year was earlier than this year's. I expect phone calls will be made next week, but obviously I don't really KNOW anything about this year, just basing on last year's procedure.
Keeping fingers crossed for those of you waiting for good news. :)

Finally got logged in...using wrong user name. I forget my S goes by his middle name, but colleges always use the first. Yes, it does say "in committee" and undeclared music theatre major.

Glad you were able to log in. My child who applied to the BFA in MT program has her status listed as "In Committee". So, maybe the admission's office puts the BFA kids "on hold" until they hear from those selecting the MT kids. Then after the admissions office gets that list, they check their grades, test scores, etc., to see if they are eligible academically.

That is very interesting about the "in committee". Makes sense. I've just never heard of it before, but of course didn't have reason to be checking in March since she had already been admitted academically.
Hope you have great news soon.

My s applied to Elon MT last year and got defered in December so we anxiously awaited his on line status. He also got a status of "in committee". It then said "accepted undeclared MT" > We mistakenly thought he was accepted to the program. We soon learned by letter he was not. The on line status refers only to acceptance into the college and has nothing to do with
the program itself. He still went to Elon because he loved it from the time he first set foot there. He has reauditioned for MT and Acting. We're waiting to hear.

I posted this morning that my D's status changed today to reflect "In Committee". Just for fun, I checked again...now it says, "Congratulations, you are admitted!"

I am assuming this means to the school itself...not to MT, but I'm REALLY HAPPY
(and surprised) with this update anyway! This whole process is sooo confusing...every school is different!

Did this change happen to others as well?

Yes! OnTrack now says accepted to the university. Now we wait to see if he gets in the MT program...

Interesting that your son's status changed as well! Rarely did I look at the "Check Application Status" buttons on any websites during this whole process, because I never saw any change. I did, however, check Elon's on March 13...they said the final Application Status would be shown on the 14th, so I was just curious to see if it would be posted early. No, on the 13th, there was the same "File Complete" notation...then the morning of the 14, it was "In Committee"...then a few hours later, "Accepted". I have NO idea what that "In Committee" status for a little while was about. Oh, well, doesn't matter...

Yes, Georgia, now we just wait to see if they get into the MT program...at least they are cleared academically, so that is good.

The wait continues...:)

My S's status didn't change till this morning, so we had started to get a little worried.

Glad to hear your son's status was updated as well. It is interesting that within one college, updates, e-mails, phone calls, etc., can be (and are!) made at different times and on different days. I heard from a mom last year that her child's friend got an acceptance call from Elon one day; they did not, so thought it was a "no"...only to get a call several days later! Maybe the colleges read this board and decide to torture all of us crazed, waiting parents all the more!

At least things will be finalized shortly. Thank goodness!

Cathy McNeela called at 11 pm last night with my D's acceptance to the MT program. You could have heard the screams in the next state!!

Good luck to all of you awaiting the call!!!!

Congrats, Hope2Be!!! Something tells me this is your kid's first pick school!!:)

Congratulations! My son is SO envious right now. This is his first choice school. The waiting is agony, but we hope they'll be classmates!

If you get an email saying you are "academically waitlisted" does that mean to the University, or to the MT program? If it is to the U, how does that affect MT admittance?

Acceptance to the university itself and acceptance to the MT program are two separate things. The MT notifications should be going out soon (and I've seen on CC where some people have already gotten a rejection). I don't know how being waitlisted to the university affects getting into the MT program. Maybe a current Elon parent could answer that question.

MomsterofM, did you actually get an e-mail saying your child was waitlisted to Elon?

My waitlisted child did not get an email but her status reflects that on line.

Yes, she got an email. It is also posted on her Elon online site.

I found it interesting that she is "academically" waitlisted, since she was invited to the NYU Saturday in the Square reception that I understand from posts here on CC the invites go to the top 10% of the kids accepted at that point. And it sounded like the top 10% refers to academics more than other factors.

Not that every school doesn't have completely different admission factors. But, well, it's just all so confusing.

I guess we'll do some more waiting .....

MomsterofM...yes, now I remember that my "waitlisted" D did get an e-mail from Elon (sent to her personal e-mail address). She replied to it that she wanted to remain on that list and received an automated confirmation that decisions would not be made until mid-June...Yikes, that is a long time to wait & see!

MomsterofM.....the Elon decision (so far) for your child is just the academic component. The NYU/Tisch decision is her overall admissions decision, half based on academics and half on artistic review and so we are kinda comparing apple to oranges. Also, I do not believe that the Tisch invitation to Saturday in the Square is ONLY to the top 10%. I truly think MORE than that get invited. Remember, too, that to selective schools like Elon and NYU, it goes beyond just SAT scores and GPA but rather is a wholistic look at many factors, and not just numbers. There are recommendations, essays, rigor of courseload, extracurricular activities and achievements and so forth.
