Oh my gosh! We have been out all day and night and just got home to find my D was accepted to Syracuse's MT program via email!!! We are all screaming!! Congrats to all of the other Syracuse acceptances today!!

Congrats floridafam and nash for your children!

NewbieMTMom....Oh my gosh is right.....you have been waiting and stressing and I have followed it and I'm so happy that your wait was worth it! Things do work out, ya see? Enjoy this thrilling moment! (I have had such a day today too....can't beat it)

D accepted to Acting. She's very excited. She auditioned for MT, but knew she didn't have the best vocal audition. Would like feedback from you experienced CC'ers on this. Is there an opportunity to re-audition once a student is there? Can she still pursue dance and vocal training in the acting track? Would there be audition opportunities in musicals? Is there ever an opportunity to reaudition?

Thank you. However, I could not find the PM. As I am new to CC, perhaps I'm not accessing it correctly. Please resend. I'll keep trying to find it.

At the top of this page in the upper right corner, do you see what should say: "Welcome KWD" ? If so, right under that is a blue link that says, "Private Messages." Click right on the blue words that say "Private Messages" and that will take you to your private message mailbox where members can send you posts/messages privately. Hope that helps.

Yes, I did do that. It wasn't there. Anyway, I did find the PM. It went to my aol account email address. Thank you though for being a great supportive CC'er.

Oh, that's kinda weird but at least you got the message and I'm glad. I am sure onstage can help you because her D is in the program and she knows a lot about it. Actually one of my D's friends and former roomie from theater camp who is totally a MT girl, got into Syracuse for Acting (had applied for MT) and is attending for Acting (is a soph). At many programs there are kids in the acting track who also do MT and are good at it. Inquire as much as you can (as you are doing) what opportunities there are for voice lessons and dance classes and to audition for the musicals. It may work out just fine in the acting track if she can keep her foot in MT.

D accepted to Acting! It is already posted on acceptances thanks to soozievt. Everyone have a great weekend. And her friend who had received 2 rejections this week, got an invite to NYU! So the Georgia neigborhood is happy!

Now that the decisions are out, I will re-iterate (sp) what I said before about the one male auditioner at Syracuse. My child is very very sensitive and was SURE this man was very depressed, in fact he seemed on the verge of crying during the audition (and it wasn't due to the singing or monologue). He kept putting his head in his hands, and basically made my child want to ask him what was wrong, and if he needed help. This will definitely affect the decision we make as to where to send our child to school.

Maybe he had a migraine? I don't mean to be flip, Happymom -- I'm actually completely serious. I hope your D is able to make a decision she's happy with. And sensitivity is a trait that can be very helpful in the acting profession! But whoever that person was, isn't it possible that he just wasn't feeling well? For example, last November I was working as musical director/pianist on a school production of You're a Good Man Charlie Brown. A week before opening night I came down with bronchitis. I was feeling completely miserable, and really should have been home in bed; but I needed to be at the theater. If the kids hadn't already known me, I'm sure they would have thought I was an awfully grumpy, unfriendly person.

I wasn't there at your D's audition, and I really don't know what the situation was. But it's very likely that that teacher's attitude had nothing to do with her. It's unfortunate that it happened, but I hope she won't make her final decision solely on that incident. The program at Syracuse is a very good one.

I think it's dangerous to try to "read into" the body language/expressions of an auditor at an audition. Even as I sit here thinking about what might make someone appear depressed/upset, a multitude of scenarios run through my mind. Perhaps the man just got bad news about something. Maybe (as another poster said) he was not feeling well. It's just impossible to tell and we can only hope that it wasn't something serious. That said, I wouldn't personally want my kid to make a decision about a BFA program based on one person who seemed despondent for reasons we cannot know. As onstage said above, SU has an amazing MT program and most kids would consider themselves lucky to be invited to attend.

I agree with onstage and NMR about the many reasons why this may have been observed and I would not let it affect the decision of where to go to college.
