Seniors, what do you regret about your high school experience? What do you wish you had done during high school?

I, for one, regret not participating in debate during high school. The same goes for theater, something that I’m sure I would have loved. I have no idea why I didn’t do these things.

I also regret not taking more humanities courses.

I regret not studying harder.

I regret studying too much and not doing more EC activities. I also regret not applying to more schools (I only applied to 2).

I regret not doing more EC activities (especially starting a sport in 9th grade) and taking the ACT earlier

I don’t particularly regret anything.

However, maybe I’d like to do some things differently:

-Take the ACT (maybe I could have busted out a 36…or maybe I’d fail.)
-Do theater
-Try to be valedictorian

Varsity sport takes up a lot of time and, unless you’re recruitable (which I’m not), does not really help in college admissions.

Didn’t do a lot of other ECs, largely because of the aforementioned reason.

I wish I made some effort in Civics and AP World History in freshman and sophomore years.

Should have read more books.

I regret taking one less honors course than I should have sophomore year. Because of weighting, that keeps me from getting “Highest Honors” (highest overall GPA) every semester.

I regret not transferring sooner! I regret not applying for early admissions to a college I like. I regret letting myself be discouraged from science because I do pretty well in it. Also, I wish I’d studied for the SAT. I got a 2250 but if I studied for the math I’d be a lot better off.

I regret applying to so many ucs and schools (costing me a fortune) and then withdraw my apps…

I regret applying to more than 3 CSU schools, not researching half of the schools that I applied to (lol), and not putting more effort into my APUSH class.

I regret not trying my freshman year.

I wished I had researched careers more. Or better, actually; I did research careers and majors my junior year, but I failed to look at the big picture and see how many people actually got their dream jobs.
I also wished I looked more into engineering. This program I did in pittsburgh showed me a lot of different kinds of engineering, but it didn’t show all of them, and I based my opinion of engineering solely on that.

I regret not asking that girl out during my fresh/soph year…yeah, she moved…soo sad :(

i regret… not doing student council, not taking the ACT for the 3rd time, not going to more football games

I regret doing color guard my freshman year, and waiting until I was a sophomore to get involved with jazz band and drama.

I regret not joining my Quiz Bowl Team my freshman year even though I wanted to at the time. I should’ve! I also regret not joining more clubs earlier and running for officer positions. I also regret my entire freshman year, I should’ve tried harder and it would’ve had some great benefits for me now, rank wise… I also regret not canceling my second SAT score because my calculator ran out of batteries before I even started. I should’ve started SAT/ACT testing earlier and should’ve studied instead of taking it so many times. I regret not applying ED to my first choice school.
But oh well, life is full of regrets and I have to move on.

I regret:
-doing NO ECs freshman year
-not preparing for the ACT more (one more point in one section would have given me a 31)
-not doing AP Econ and quitting AP Calc this year

But I guess I gotta get over this, because what’s done is done.

I also regret not asking anyone to a dance, instead of just waiting for someone to ask me even though I knew it would never happen. I also regret not going on more outings with my friends.

I regret nothing. Regrets are for people who dwell in the past. I look forward and prepare for a better, brighter tomorrow.
