Class of 2012 Results: Celebrate, discuss, support here

Twin2 got a phone call last night that he was accepted to Robert Morris Univ near our home, Honors Engineering program w/ full tuition. The adcom asked him if he wanted to tour the campus; he's been dually enrolled there for a year! Still that was nice to hear - a super safety.

University of Missouri Journalism School! First acceptance, and it's his dad's alma mater, too.

Hooray, geezerson!

I just posted this in the other acceptance thread, but D is so excited - she got her first acceptance today from DePaul (College of Commerce), with significant merit money. DePaul is her safety but also her first choice, so she is giddy with relief and excitement.

She called all her friends and screamed "I'm going to college! Somebody wants me!"

She called all her friends and screamed "I'm going to college! Somebody wants me!"

LOL. My D had the exact same reaction when that first acceptance with automatic merit money attached to it came to the ranch. No matter how high they are up the food-chain, that first doable one always looks so nice. Congrats.

Congratulations to Scoutdaughter! :D

He's 2 for 2! Today it was Ohio University; the next step there will be a portfolio and interview early next year for the School of Visual Communication in the Scripps College of Communication. After these two rolling admissions successes, the long wait begins until January for one school and March/April for three others. But he feels great to have these early yeses.

Congrats to Scoutdaughter. My daughter also loves her safety and first acceptance. She is so convinced that she loves Queens that she may not send in any other applications. Plus the merit money is great. My son only applied to one school, ED to Duke, so I guess my kids know what they like. We sure saved alot in application fees.

Thanks to Curm (ooh - I got a reply from the Master!), candace, and oregonian!

I guess I didn't realize how stressed/nervous my daughter really was - she's a real laid-back, glass-is-half-full kind of kid. I think that in her head she knew she'd get in, but it's still great when somebody loves you!

I know what you mean, Candace, about "no more applications." My D is supposed to finish her apps this weekend, including one to Northeastern (her second-favorite school.) She promised me last night that she really would finish but that remains to be seen. For now, though, I'll let her float a little longer before the nagging begins again.

Hi everyone:
Twin A (journalism) has gotten into Mizzou and Indiana U.
Twin B (prelaw/psych) got into Univ of Vermont.
Still stressing on applications here....

Twice the fun and stress for cornmuffin! Congratulations to all for these great early acceptances!

Hey cornmuffin! Congrats to your sons! I'll be sure to tell my son about Twin A's acceptances. We're still waiting to hear from Indiana.

My son got into Rose-Hulman... hoping for a good merit to pay at least half or the eli lilly

^ Cool! We liked Rose Hulman. Good luck on money.

Congrats to all on their acceptances. Even if it's to safeties (even if!), it is so great to see how excited the kids get and for us as parents to know that they'll be ok - if WE just quit stressing.

Kudos to all the kids! Parents - start your wallets!

First child, first acceptance!!!! D had been accepted to USF, one of two safeties, although given the budget cuts and frozen enrollment numbers in Florida, it might even be a match now. What a relief. She has an EA reach pending, and will be anxiously awaiting the FSU first decision date of 11/28 (her first choice), and one more match/safety for the first round. There will be no second round if she's in at FSU.

First child, ONLY child, second acceptance! D got the letter from Loyola University - Chicago today, one of her safety-matches. She also got some merit money, which is nice.

She actually told me today that she's glad that I nagged her into getting these applications in early. Music to my ears!

Scout, I lived in Loyola's dorms while a student at DePaul many years ago when DePaul faced a huge housing shortage. At that time, Loyola had great dorms but horrible food; the exact opposite of DePaul.

It was a great area to go to college though.

I want my sons to now worship at my feet since I "made" them get their stuff in by early Sept. They still have one more to go each, and are really dragging their feet!

Congrats!

My S2 got accepted to East Carolina University today! He has been pretty low key about the whole process so I was taken by surprise at the look of pure joy on his face when he read the letter. Guess we'll have to set up a visit now. Still waiting on one more in Dec. but boy this feels good.

Congrats, Pack Mom! My son got his acceptance packet from Clemson today into the school of enginering with OOS tuition waiver and some other scholarship money. Very surprised, since they said we wouldn't find out until Feb. 15. It is such a relief to get that first acceptance in. He's waiting until he hears from the other schools he applied to (NCSU, Va. Tech and Duke) before making a decision, but it's definitely nice toget that first acceptance and to see that they really want you to attend!
