You have the right idea about the NYU buildings being in the midst of everything happening in the Village, it's kind of nice and there's certainly a lot more within walking distance than there is at USC. I liked the Washington Square "quad" idea as well, it's everything you think of when you think the Village...musicians playing, kids sprawled out studying, gambling on checkers games in a corner...

This is so random, but Nickel Xenon, you're female? I don't know why but for some reason I was completely convinced you were male! That probably sounds incredibly weird lol.

checks Yep, I'm a chick. xD Why did you think I was a guy? It was my manly-ness, wasn't it? I know I'm frickn' manly. strikes a pose

Can you guys describe the USC campus? I've never been there before.

Buuut, I was in Dartmouth on Saturday and the campus was freezing cold and covered in snow (though obvs not a problem in LA). It seemed pretty dead for a Saturday night and the few streets of shops were rather dull.

I have no idea why I thought you were a guy! Okay actually, I do, but it's embarrassing. I think I read a chances thread of a poster with a similar name and they were an asian male...so I've been replying to your posts with that image of my mind... now you can imagine how I have to re-adjust my mental picture knowing you're a hispanic female. Yes, these very impressive reading skills are why I've applied to USC, Northwestern and Stanford. Yup. Totally.

You're close. I'm 1/4 Chinese, but that's not going on the application. ^_~ And what changed your mind about me being an asian male? xD

Well I saw your chances thread for one thing haha. That was a bit of a clue. Actually, it would have been really funny if we both would have ended up at USC, or NYU or even gasp Stanford together, been in the same class, and never realize it because you were in fact NOT an asian male? lol.

So you would have been looking around for an asian male going, "That might be Nickel right there," when I'm really the hispanic girl sitting next to you. We could be roomates and end up being together for four years and you'll never know that I'm Nickel. =/

I just submitted Part 2... Now, I have to wait.

I'm also submitting today.

Just wondering... my uncle used to be the medical director for student services at USC! He wrote me a letter of rec! Will this help my chances at all?

USC is my #1 choice.. just like everyone else here I bet!! Chance me on my thread please!!! :)

Hey, I was wondering if anybody living overseas or international did an interview for USC? I want one so bad! I e-mailed the admissions office, but they send they don't have a rep over here.....ahhh....

Actually, USC is my...fourth choice. xD I'd still love to go there, though. Since my first three choices are such reaches that I won't get in...

wellll, I've just read through all these posts and am now scared to death that I won't get into USC. eeeeek. I don't necessarily know that it's my first choice, but I do really want to go there. Does anybody know whether they'll look at recommendations postmarked after the deadline? Because it's not necessarily my fault if my recommender didn't send it in on time ...

From an e-mail I got from the admissions office:

Thank you for your inquiry.

Transcripts and letters of recommendation do not have to be received by the December 10th deadline, but should be sent as close to that date as possible in order for us to receive and process them in time to be reviewed with the student's application for scholarships.

A transcript is considered official when we receive it in the sealed envelope the school provides. It can be mailed by the school or the applicant and be considered official as long as the seal is not broken.

If the SAT test was taken at the earliest December sitting of the test, the official score report from the testing agency should be received in time to consider them with your scholarship application. To ensure we have your current scores, we recommend you mail a photocopy of your test score report. Results from tests taken after the earliest December sitting should be rushed to us; there is no guarantee they will be available for our scholarship review.

Documents mailed to us separately from the Admission Application should be mailed to the address listed below.

ooh. thanks! That's good, I guess. I'm really freaked out about this application now... actually mostly about getting enough money to actually be able to afford to go there.

Are you submitting today or did you already?

My application's all done, I want to get my gifted counselor at school to look at my essay so I guess I'm going to be a big ol' procrastinator and submit it tomorrow after school. Haha. Did you submit yours already?

I'm about to submit it.

I sent my application in over Thanksgiving break, but I didn't mail my portfolio until yesterday morning, haha.
