Class of 2013 Coca Cola Scholars Semifinalists

@ijasanders: you are beyond nice and I hope that your kindness brings you good karma in your college application/scholarship experience!

D is a semifinalist! Notified yesterday but didn’t check email until today.

Any word? Anyone? Nothing here. Having that gut feeling again. No one I know received an email yesterday…and no one so far today.

I feeling that they will be sending the rejections before they leave tomorrow, so that they will be gone over the weekend to avoid the questions, etc.

I really hope I am wrong…because I am seriously trying to stay hopeful.

Post anyone if you have received anything dated yesterday or today? Thanks.

Nothing yet.

@danieljvdm

What’s your thoughts on this matter? No one has heard since 12/11?

I’d be surprised if, out of some 2,000 Semi Finalists, the only ones on CC have already posted here. I thought the 12/11 was really early–like they said end of this week when they delayed, so tomorrow makes more sense.
At least, I’m hoping it does. Seems very odd no one heard anything on 12/12 or 12/13.

@OHmyDD95

I personally called Coca Cola myself on 12/11 and confirmed that indeed they were sending out semi-finalist notification but wouldn’t be complete until 12/14.

With that being said, no one have received anything since…and, my thoughts are tomorrow will be the final emails being sent to those that are rejected. Sadly, but it does make sense.

Also, originally they were going to select 2,200 semifinalists. What happen to that? There is more than ever applicants and they are selecting a lot less than last year.

That’s weird.

I doubt they’ve notified everyone. Doesn’t seem like enough of a response to have been everyone. Just quit worrying about it, what happens happens. I am not worried in the slightest. There is no evidence that the people who haven’t been emailed were rejected, so I’m not assuming anything. Again, if I don’t get it, well oh well. Move on with life, there are other scholarships to get. My advice is to just wait for the email. You’ll get one regardless. Similarly, people have been freaking out on the Stanford SCEA forum and I really don’t see why. Just wait for the notification and save all your nervousness for when you actually click on the email ;P.

@danieljvdm

true, so true. But, in all fairness if you are selected tomorrow as a semifinalists…you have less days to prepare for the next step than those who has already been selected two days ago. Just saying. A thought to ponder. :)

Semifinalist! I got notified yesterday via email!

Let’s be honest, who is going to spend every day from now until the deadline working on the app? I can just use the two days to work on another scholarship app now that I would have had to do later anyway. It really isn’t an advantage.

Cograts @ mlbsupastar123!!!

@ Danieljvdm …And I understand your point. Lighten up. I’m just expressing my thoughts that it seems like the notifications are basically over for semifinalists. I am definitely not going to pour my entire time into one scholarship! But wishing you luck.

congrats to all those who made it! :slight_smile:
Although I’m not gonna lie, I’m a bit bummed out seeing all these posts and not seeing anything in my inbox. :frowning: Since they say they send these out over a few days/week, I’m just curious if they do this alphabetically? In which case, there might be a glimmer of hope :3

The only issue with that is that we haven’t seen a single rejection letter, not Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday.

My opinion…and my opinion and thought only is that semi-finalists were notified on 12/11 and being that this is the final day according to CC…that rejections will be sent out today. Probably later since it will eliminate phone calls to them and its the weekend for ppl to shallow such before disturbing them.

I have already resolved to the fact that I didn’t receive this one, but moved on to others and hopeful that something will work out.

Good luck to all Semi-finalists. I wish you the best of luck in hope that you advance to the finals.

To the rest, we should commend ourselves for at least trying. As we all know, we all can’t be winners no matter what. Being that we took the time to apply says a lot about us. Hard work will pay off one way or another.

May all of you have a wonderful holiday season. Keep your heads up high today. We all know what may be coming…but again! Remember you are amazing!!!

Going by last year’s performance, it appears the foundation sent rejection emails after Christmas. Acceptance emails continued till Dec 19, I believe. Even the website indicates notifications will happen in December and the month is only half way done. So I believe there is still hope.

I would find it hard to believe that dancer and daniel would not be semi finalist…with that being said I agree not all semi finalist have been notified. I also read last years thread and semi finalist were notified over several days.

FYI…

Lowes Scholarship is supposed to open 12/15/12
Best Buy 12/26/12

When one door closes another one opens…:)

Everything happens for a reason!!!

As obsessively as I check this thread for changes, I find it hilarious that the first words in the first post are “Calm down, nothing has happened yet!” All too true…

@confetti247 :slight_smile:
We all know that it’s hard to be calm when you are waiting on something that means a lot…especially to all of us that applied. This is a huge scholarship.

@ljasander2 :slight_smile:
Thanks for the kind words!

Still waiting. I will say told you so, if they send the emails out after business hours today.

Hopeful but doubtful too :(
