^I too think so…otherwise we would have to apply to one college in Nov. and all others in Dec-Jan.
I think we can apply to all our colleges on Nov (before the deadlines of both ED and RD), but only one under an ED program.
I got an email from UChicago to fill in an application now to be free later. So, you can apply anytime within the RD deadline…even 3-4 months before.

^ok, that might help

But any suggestion for safety colleges?

um…don’t know…safeties are so difficult to find.(at least for me)…

And you guys know anything abt making an account in CA. What’s the pros? Can’t you download the forms and start working on them? Is it necessary for submitting applications? Should I be making an account now?

I’m very concerned abt this now. Some of my friends have been applying to those 9-13k univ. and many had difficulties in the VISA interview due to financial reasons. Some had 50-70% aid.
Most of my colleges are 40-50k composite, but they all meet full need. So, will it be a problem for me during the VISA process (citing financial reasons)? I’m hoping not but an increasing number of people advise me to apply to cheap colleges and i don’t like that at all.

What’s your take on this?

safeties…hmmmmm…i think you should go for lower LACs as safeties. (lafayette and the likes)

i think the main problem people have during the visa process is that they cannot demonstrate that they will be able to pay comfortably (without working illegal hrs).
if you have full need met that’s not a problem at all!
anyway the reputation of the college itself impresses the guys who decide whether or not to give u the visa. Imagine getting accepted at Stanford (with aid) and getting rejected in the visa process !!!
Some of the seniors i know got rejected because they were going to colleges paying 10-15 k a year.

Finding safeties is tough in itself but finding safeties you would be happy to go to is even tougher.

^
so right!!!

@stag: So, are you applying to University of Chicago? There essay topics certainly are a lot of fun.

lafayette safety??? ……hmmm…

This is absolutely the essence of the process of finding safeties. Well said ccprofile.

And University of Chicago questions really are “thought provoking”. Don’t know if i’ll apply though. Just seen it as a probability, haven’t researched into it further. I don’t know how I’ll be managing those essay questions, they have that capacity to make us pore out our hearts and to link it to what we really are, but i haven’t written such essays ever in my lifetime…i’m a pretty poor writer.

hehe I liked the wednesday essay topic of U chic. And Lafayette isnt a safety.

@gurung

well i thought it would be a safety for you because of your straight A’s and your EC’s.
It would just be a reach for me.

btw…guys…Happy frenship Day!!

Happy Friendship Day!!!

Happy Friendship day guys

Can u all plz suggest me? will it be better to do TOEFL first ? Or should i do SAT?
i cud not make out decision? i hope our seniors will help me out…

Happy frenship day to all in this thread, seems i’m a bit late.

raycerstah, i think it wud be better to take the SATs first. you might get your TOEFL waived with a good CR score…Besides, after the hard work in the SATs, TOEFL feels like a baby.
