Class of 2014 FSU accepted / rejected thread!

Agree with Slinger - you’re in, you just start a semester early and ease in to things. Same classes, schedules, degrees, etc. Take it and run, it’s a good thing!

Gator dad here but excited my daughter got accepted to FSU for the fall term today…she has also been accepted to USF, UCF and Alabama, waiting to hear from UF but FSU would be my first choice for her

I made a “mistake” applying to Summer, received Deferred until March 16 notification.
GPA 3.7
SAT 1830
ACT 28
8 AP

what are my chances March 16???
any advice??

…feeling frustrated

With that profile, it looks like the only thing that would have caused you to be deferred would have been a bad grade on your transcripts. Have you gotten a D in any class on your transcripts?

Generally, if you are deferred during the December decisions, and you have no bad grades (1 C at most, and nothing worse than that) on your transcript, and you keep up the course rigor that you have had throughout high school, you will likely be accepted.

We also got our info. They did send my daughter info she was awarded the $9600 scholarship. If you are a FL resident and have the grades, it was automatically offered. We did not apply for it so make sure to fill out the residency forms.

Hello everyone,

I just wanted to write on here to tell everyone to not listen to people who say its hard to get accepted once you’re deferred. I applied to FSU last year (class of 2017) early action, and I was deferred until March. I spent the whole 4 months worrying about whether I would get in or not and almost everybody said the chances were slim, but I did get in in the end. So don’t lose hope. I did also retake the SAT during that period and my score improved by 100 points which probably helped, so I would suggest taking the SAT over again a few times if you have to, there’s nothing wrong with that. I didn’t end up going to FSU but it felt really good that the work paid off. So if you’re spending most of your time worrying about the future, I would just advise you to keep a positive outlook. Good luck!

Did everyone receive notifications?

Pasbal, thanks for your quick response; I did receive a few Cs my freshman and sophomore years. I also got a D last year. I’m signing up for a couple online classes for grade forgiveness to submit by February. Will that help my chances? Also, if I were to call, would the admissions office allow me to switch my term from fall to summer.

@dennymom, you have to log in to the FSU Admissions site. The original early announcement date was December 16, but FSU released acceptances a couple days early.

As long as it meets the requirements for grade forgiveness and it replaces the old grade, instead of supplementing the old grade, your chances will likely improve. As for switching from Fall to Summer, you will want to keep your application for fall at this point. The way FSU does things, if you are not accepted for Fall, you are automatically considered for Summer admission. It’s like getting two chances at acceptance instead of 1 (FSU does not automatically consider you for Fall if you apply for Summer).

thanks, Pasbal…my situation is the opposite: I did apply for Summer and got Deferred until March 16th, would they let me switch to Fall, so I can get those two “chances”??

Generally, no. If you have been deferred for Summer, odds are you would be rejected for fall anyway and would have been considered for summer anyway. Fall typically has lower requirements for acceptance than Summer, so being deferred for summer means you’re typically unlikely to get in for fall.

Admissions is also normally difficult to work with in changing your application or the semester you start. Several people ask every year to switch from summer to fall and I hear very few success stories.
