I’ve applied to 5 so far and have 5 more to do. Most are reaches with a few safeties and matches.
Lynchburg, Mary Washington, CNU, GMU, JMU, VCU, U of Richmond, UVA, Washington & Lee (super reach!), Virginia Tech

I applied to 5 reaches, 3 matches, and 2 safeties. I feel like that is a pretty well rounded list.

1 reach
2 matches
1 safety (honors college = match, accepted.)

I applied to ten! Three safeties, three matches, three reaches, one that my dad says is a match but i think it’s a reach.

I started my essays in the summer, so by the time november/december rolled around, I just had to edit everything

haha i only applied to 4.
1/1 Safety
1/1 Match
?/2 Reach (No decision yet)

3 safeties
2 matches
10(!) reaches

Although I might have a warped perception of the reach/match distinction

Cal Poly SLO (Early Decision) (Accepted)
UC San Diego
UC Davis
UC Santa Barbara
San Jose State (Safety)

11 Go big or go home:

6 Ivies
2 high ranking privates
1 little bit lower private
1 high ranking public
1 in-state safety (already accepted with a full ride)

Three. Plus two gap-year programs. All together, seven essays and six short-answer questions (besides my NMSF essay) so I’m glad I didn’t apply to more.
Right now, I will be attending my first choice college (on majority scholarship) and first choice gap year program so I’m happy :).

Applied to 10 schools

8

3 safeties
2 matches
3 reaches

2 in-state public safeties…

backs out of thread cautiously

Total. All safeties.

…but it was to get financial aid…

5

1 reach
2 low matches
2 safeties

Six. Four reaches and two matches (though one is admittedly a pretty high match).

Final count turned out to be 14.

Which is a lot compared to most people at my school, but then this one kid applied to 45…

45?! How is that even possible?
I applied to nine, but in retrospect I could have cut that down. 5 safeties, 2 low to mid matches, and 2 reaches.
