***Class of 2014 NMSF Qualifying scores***

Way too much tension indeed! 221 in CT is too close to call.

Do high schools still receive notification of commended students? Believe it or not, my daughter was the only one to reach that level at our school, possibly in years, so I don’t know if they even know much about it.

211 in KY. Borderline if scores go up!

Ugh !!! Just looked up postal delivery times. 4-8 BUSINESS DAYS for non-profit or bulk mail.

221 in CT should do it. In looking over all past year’s state reports, in years in which CT was 220, and the one year it was 221, the numbers indicated about halfway between 220 and 221, so you are very likely to make it. My daughter is at 220 in CT, and probably won’t, even though she will have a higher score than about half of the other NMSFs who do qualify. We’ll see next week.

CAT. I suspect 211 will be the cut off for our Old Kentucky Home. Just my hunch based on the data we have seen thus far. Good luck in Nasville for the Cats but I have to say ------------ Go Tops!

215 in Florida and praying it’s good enough since the commendation score was high this year!

jsut so im clear… if cut off for CA is 221 and i have a 221 im gonna be NMSF right? its at or above the cutoff score?

Yes, californiboy. The cutoff score is inclusive. If the CA cutoff is 221 and you score 221 you are a NMSF!

Maybe, then, if it’s 4 to 8 business days that some home-schoolers will hear tomorrow (Saturday) and post!!

^I really hope you’re right. This is agonizing.

Sure hope so. Even if its not my state it will be good to see the trends.

@pennyksu
very much agreed.

PennyKSU, absolutely! Good luck to everyone!!!

I would like to see every one of us or our kids make it. It helps have you wonderful people with whom to wait in agony. Cheers.

Folks, if I may make a suggestion, please do NOT post your own score and state at this time unless you’re posting to say you are a confirmed semifinalist with a particular score.

People are looking at this thread right now looking for cutoff scores and when someone posts “217 in Texas” people get excited thinking that that’s the cutoff number before realizing that it’s just an individual’s score that they’re anxiously waiting with.

It will be cleaner if we can keep everyone’s hopeful scores off the thread and wait until we have some confirmed information at this point.

GL everyone!

Lol…I agree @pennyksu. It makes it feel more like a club than nail-biter that it really is!!

And good suggestion mathmomvt! It’ll be easier to recognize the numbers when they’re up as true cutoffs. :)

Obviously I have no authority to tell people what to post or not. But if you can at least make it clear what you are and are not posting it will help prevent people who are anxious from misinterpreting in their excitement.

For example “I think 223 should make it in Massachusetts” versus “223 will make it in Massachusetts” (the latter sounds like it could be a data point of someone with 223 who made it)

or “anxiously waiting with 215 in Wisconsin” versus just “215 in Wisconsin”

Like I said, I’m not a moderator and I have no authority here. I’m just trying to prevent people from having a heart attack or getting excited for nothing over something they for a moment misinterpret before they realize that what they thought they read means something different in context.

I’m not trying to throw my weight around, but I’ve been around here for a while and have followed these threads in the past, and it’s easy for someone to mis-read something and end up on an unnecessary emotional roller coaster.

Ok, everyone’s stressed waiting… I’m sure all suggestions mean no harm.

BTW folks, MathmomVT has posted a lot of good info in the past… please take a deep breath…

good luck to all!

Mathmom has been posting here a lot longer than many of us. She is one of the veterans that answers questions and leads us all in the right direction on this forum.
Let’s all show consideration for others and not be posting scores until they are official. That way there will be no confusion. Mathmomvt is absolutely correct.
