***Class of 2014 NMSF Qualifying scores***

I can confirm that Arkansas’ cutoff is 205. I got NMSF with a 205 and I know two people who did not get it with a 204.

Not looking to challenge Scout or anyone else. I prefaced, “I do believe …” which I hope indicates an opinion from the start, not “I am sure”. As for an originator of information “considering themselves” to have exclusive right (i.e., proprietary) and asking for confidence in sharing something, that can be done as a professional request of courtesy and have no real legal connotation whatsoever.

What I believe to be the case … There is a semifinalist PR date (it was Wed 12 Sep last year [National Merit Scholarship Corporation - News Releases: Dates](http://www.nationalmerit.org/dates.php), so I expect Wed 11 Sep this year). Cutoff scores and names are distributed but asked to be held in confidence at schools until that official release has occurred.

AR nailed down

I’m going to wait on CA, MA & DC for now…

Outstanding participants(National)=?

I received a home school letter for my son in MN with a score of 219 and that is a national merit semifinalist, not sure how much lower it goes.

^ Congrats to you both @mom123456789 & @mathrom :)

Earlier this week my DD’s principal in OK said he was not allowed to share the results of the letter with us until Sept 11th. I told him I thought that was the press release date, but I let it drop. He called me back a few minutes later and said when he re-read the letter he realized he could. He read the quote to me which in effect said “with the exeption of students and their families” you can’t share this information with anyone. I think the administrators might be missing that first part and assuming that “anyone” includes the students and their families.

Waiting for news for my daughter in WI with a 209. Got off the phone with the principal. She has the letter but the letter tells her she can’t release results until Sept 11th. She is sticking by that. I will check with her about “exception of students and their families” mentioned in post 1049. I’m not sure I’ll be able to reach her now til Monday.

If my school hasn’t given me anything yet, does that mean I’m not a Semifinalist? My school has Semifinalists every year, so it seems like it wouldn’t be confused about the PR date.

layla61808…not necessarily. I gather many schools haven’t told the students yet.

Thanks to all of you for your postings, especially Rockfishdg! I have been following this thread from NC with great interest. Our GC will not give out scores until next week. I’m hoping the reported <= 216 is accurate.

GA - My son went to ask his GC on Thurs. and she said she had not received anything yet.

@Carolinamom96, my D definitely scored 216 and definitely is NMSF. I’ve seen the letter. If your child has 216 or above, s/he is in.

My son made NMSF with a 211 in Utah, 1 point lower than the lowest number reported on here for Utah so far.

Not that this would be very helpful (save for confirmation), but the Hawaii cutoff is definitely below 223. (2 semis from my school, a 222 and my 228)

I’m a semifinalist with a 215 in NC.

My daughter has a 228 in a lower-scoring state so we are certain that she made the cut-off. However, I never rule out computer or clerical errors or glitches until I see results in black and white. Daughter’s GC says she has not received the results. Am I wrong to be skeptical that the school is holding on to the results, perhaps to release after the results are released to the public? What would be the point in withholding scores from students? Does NMC ask schools to hold scores until certain dates?

***My apologies for this post. I had not read posts from the last day or so related to this issue. It does get frustrating hearing that the packages were mailed out on 8/27 and many students have been notified while our school says they have not received anything.
