Class of 2014

Am a current junior and I want to go to one of the following: University of NC Charlotte, High Point University, and the University of NC Greensboro. I possibly want to major into Biology with pre-med requirements.
Am a Hispanic and I am involved with 6 Clubs (Spanish Club, Student Council, FCA, KARE, HOSA, Interact) I was in band for my freshman, sophomore, and first semester of junior year. (hoping it doesn't look bad on me because I quit). Also plan to have a summer job.
My GPA is a 3.3 unweighted and 3.99 weighted am 29 out of 224..I plan to do some volunteer service over the summer.
I have take one A.P class and that was US History
And my SAT/ACT scores where really pittyful so am going to retake them soon

My senior year:
AP. Literature and Compesition
AP. Biology
Nursing Fundamentals (NF) possibly am not sure if I want to take the internship (non honors)
AP.Physology
Spamish 3 honors
**possibly AP Cal/AB am not sure between that or NF

I have questions
1) how good do my "statistics" look? I really need a GOOD scholarship
2) am not sure what classes too chose whether Cal of NF?
3) will it look bad on me for quitting band?

And feel free to add anything else

1. You match up fairly well with your schools with UNC Charlotte being the tougher admit. I would add a safety or two (schools with an > 80% admit rate). Merit scholarships are mostly based on test scores so I wouldnt count on a good scholarship there. If you have financial need that will help.

2 Calculus isnt necessary in HS. As a science major you will need to take it sometime but dont need to now. Adding another AP/College level class is always a good idea.

3 Heavens no, just dont tell them. Adcoms are looking more at the depth of your experience than the sheer number of things you do. Build your story…pick one of your ECs that you excel at, or some adversity you have overcome. Try to emphasis your competitive success and leadership activites. GL

Well I plan on retaking my SAT and hopefully making a 1700+ …how could that score help me with a scholarship??

It depends on the scholarship. 1700 isnt going to do it if you are competing with all the admitted freshman for the top tier money given out by the school. Look for other scholarsip opportunites that whittle down the number of students competing. Local scholarships, minority scholarships, scholarships through your parent’s job would be more obtainable.
