@Flibb: Good, then you can tell me how to write a backpropagating neural network that actually works. (j/k). :P

Williams is currently my favourite college; it’s a small but well-known LAC surrounded by a beautiful area. I’m also applying to Amherst and Middlebury, btw.

@ash13: Hi there! I’m also a British girl.

@tetrisfan:

haha…I think it has to do with the fact that I don’t know much(or anything for that matter) about LACs…infact,I didn’t know what an LAC was till I came to CC:p
I’ll have to learn more about them before being impressed.

Oh trust me, you’ll be impressed soon enough ;)

@GuiltyBystander: Yes Netherlands is under-represented. Notice the number of Dutch CCers and you’ll get confirmation!

@british girls: Why not Oxbridge or LSE? They are as good - if not greater - than HYP.

Python! I am applying to exactly the same LACs as you! Middlebury, Williams and Amherst.
Though I might add Swarthmore (and Wesleyan and Bowdoin maybe) to the list.

My plan is as follows for now:

First apply to Yale SCEA
–> In case I get admitted : I’ll only apply to Harvard and maybe Princeton

–> In case I don’t: I’ll apply to A LOT more, i.e. Middlebury, Amherst, Williams, MIT, uChicago, Columbia, uPenn, Wesleyan (maybe), Dartmouth and of course also Harvard and Princeton again.

In the UK: Oxford, LSE and I might find some safeties here.

I want to major in economics btw!
And I am in love with Harvard, and no, not just because it’s Harvard.

Whoow! Thanks TheGame, now I know my chances are at least a tiny bit better!

Hats off to you, seriously. You’re the only such person I know.

Your sarcasm hurts.

haha

Why Economics? I am in love with Economics :)

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/college-search-selection/696738-what-liberal-arts-college.html

^I wasn’t too sure of the definition either, lol. I’m not sure whether I’ll be applying to any colleges EA; I’m definitely not applying to any ED.

Which safeties are you guys applying to? I currently have two: Grinnell and Illinois Institute of Technology. They both give reasonable FA to internationals, and they’re free to apply to. :D

@theGame: I’m applying to Cambridge, Warwick, Imperial and LSE as well, btw. I’m not sure if I really need to apply to a fifth British university, though; I’ll see. :)

My safety is probably Ohio Wesleyan, maybe Arcadia, maybe one of the CUNY colleges. I wouldn’t call Grinnell a safety for me because, well, I’m Indian.

It’s hard for an Indian to get in ANYWHERE because they’re such an overrepresented minority. Don’t worry, Pakistanis aren’t, and you have a British citizenship anyway. Our safeties would have to be places really not exclusive, PARTICULARLY if we need aid.

Gonna look at the international student aid thread now, thanks for that.

Keep in mind that the lists on those threads may not be up-to-date, so it’d probably be best to double-check on the university sites themselves, just in case anything’s changed. Try Googling “-insert college name here- financial aid” - that’s what I did, lol. :)

And I’m also half Malay, so I’m not sure whether or not this would be an advantage… I don’t know whether universities mostly consider citizenship, or where your parents were from. Oh well, no point worrying over it, I guess.

I think universities consider citizenship because they generally put countries and not citizenships on that place in the brochure or whatever where they mention what percent of people they have from what countries.

But places like Macalester value students like python38, who have diverse, multicultural backgrounds.

I WAS NOT BEING SARCASTIC!

I really was appreciating your H-love! :)

Hey Quasi, Ohio Wesleyan is one more fratty place…

who has taken their SATs yet? and since im too lazy to look how much do they cost?
