Class of 2015 from Nepal

CSS comes with a really hefty price tag for a student from 3rd world country(the price is nothing for average american family, its a big deal for us)…actually many colleges do consider your request of submitting the ISFAA instead of CSS showing your critical financial circumstances…But, there is an ongoing development in this case. Many colleges, probably from this year on, will be trying to avoid the ISFAA! This may result to the application process actually becoming costly coz till now its like free…you request fee waiver they accept it…ISFAA is free and its almost free except postal charge(not including the SAT/ACT/TOEFL registration)but when colleges implement CSS strictly, there will be a real good cost for application process!

@confidential2015 is corect. CSS comes with a hefty price tag and no fee-waivers (None that I have heard for internationals). Only way out is asking the individual college to waive CSS and instead accept ISFAA.
@rockeroncc : Most of the colleges waive them (atleast till last year) , what we must be weary is of those colleges that donot waive them and are very stingy with these kind of matters. The following list came up in discussion in class of 2014 where other members informed of colleges not waiving CSS. People with further experiences can modify the list

Colleges ENFORCING CSS

Mt. Holyoke
Wabash
Duke
Amherst
Kenyon??
Tufts??
Mudd??
(Anyone any ideas abt Ivys, I think stanford is pretty strict with these kind of things. Not sure though )

CSS fee for last year: The fee for the initial application and one college or program report is $25. Additional reports cost $16 each. I dont know whether they have changed this year

what is CSS form actually? i know the basics but then again can u guys explain in depth…

This is the list of the colleges that enforces CSS. Just check if they impose profile for international students. Even though some colleges require CSS for the natives, they don’t implement it for the internationals.

https://profileonline.collegeboard.com/prf/PXRemotePartInstitutionServlet/PXRemotePartInstitutionServlet.srv</a></p>

This list was valid for last year. As most of the colleges have switched onto CSS it is likely that by the end of September most colleges which didn’t require CSS last year oblige CSS this year.

@here123 Haven’t heard about any IVY doing such discussions but as I said earlier…they are now getting conscious about this issue…they think that CSS gives a lot more detailed information about student’s finances rather than what ISFAA does…

@Prasadian CSS is a paid service run by collegeboard. Its like the ISFAA…but its a lot more detailed and tries to learn about each and “every”(EVERY) details about the money you have, might have, and a lot of unnecessary details…its like CIA…I’d like to call it CIASS
Check this site: [CSS/Profile - student financial aid application](<a href=“College Board - SAT, AP, College Search and Admission Tools”>How to Complete the CSS Profile® – BigFuture | College Board)
And I think CSS stands for College Scholarship Service(correct me if I’m wrong)
Remember, CSS is not like ISFAA(…just download, fill up and send…)…its a lot more complicated process when compared to ISFAA and on top of all it hurts your pocket a LOT!

are both css and isfaa filled up and submitted online?

ISFAA is on paper, CSS is online.

guys i ne4ed suggestions regarding SAT prep… a teacher of mine said that the official book of collegeboard is easy as compared to the real test, meanwhile princeton’s practice test is the right choice… Is it really true?? coz i get good scores in the practice tests of official book, while my test scores of the princeton practice test is nt good… Plzzzzzzzzz help me

^

There are people I now who got 2300s on the Princeton Review tests… and landed up 1900s on the real one. Use the collegeboard book! It is a much better indicator of your scores.

The person who told you that nonsense must be a poser!

Same here, i scored about 2200 in PR, got way less in the Real SAT. use CB.

no idea on SAT pprn even though I suggest just go through all books as much as you can get out of them the better it becomes. Just my view choice is upon u guys. B st of luck.

I got just 69% on average in +2. Is it going to hamper my changes to get into good colleges? Is there any way to minimize the effects? Plz help. i am really depressed with my result.

Can’t say anything about how the results will hamper your application…but you must remember that your one strong field(academics) now lags as compared to other contenders…that means you MUST try to excel in others…improve your SAT scores, write wonderful essays, submit your art works, get involved in ECAs, get best possible recommendation…that’s all you can do after a depressing result…but don’t get mad about the results…you must remember that selection to an american university is the most random thing you will ever face in your life…so the result you have got might be or might not be the deciding factor for admission…anyways you should remember that you are now somewhat weak in academic standings which means you must try to improve other things!
Good Luck!
Don’t get depressed man!!!

@ripleythunder
I too go with confidential2015’s view.As you now lack on one of the most looked filled so you have to scale higher on other fields. No one knows what the outcome gonna be.So just chilax:D and give it your best shot.

a free advice:
Give a damn to your percentage, that do counts but does not counts as well…
I can guarantee you one thing…juss come up with an great essay …you will surely get into one of the good universities…i can give you many examples for this…so don’t worry…but if you scored 69 and continue to perform as same in coming tests and others then god help you…else don’t worry. just chill.

^^ and you must have sth notable like you should stand out at least in one ECA…like art, music or whatever…don’t need to be all rounder but at least you need to stand out in one.

just finished my 2nd essay !!! JUST !!! and just showed my essay to 2 seniors, well, they liked it !!! thank god!!! seems like the essay bit is done for me guys…just few touches n im off to other things !!!:D
