Class of 2015 from Nepal

@ sarbaraj101: hey man i was not asking others to reveal the infos they are not suposed but what big deal it is to write like: for eg: from RBS people are applying to X,Y, Z, A, BB and C colleges. u are not revealing any secret code man to hamper and I have not asked anyone to reveal their name. yeah and as confidential2015 said its interesting.

and yes how can i get the online thing printed thats not official… and college wants official

Anyone hitting Reed this year…its Reed Eder here lol

^ I already know 4 people Eding to Reed for the fall 2015.

For class of 2013 Reed’s ED acceptance rate was ZERO (0)…yes, that sounds shocking but it was…i have not taken a look at the new 2011 usnews rankings(in the printed form) so can’t say anything but still, i’m sure that Reed’s acceptance rate in ED was way too low for class of 2014…and yes, many people from BNKS think that Reed is really easy to get in as it has been for past 20 years and give it a try but Reed is on the verge of becoming highly selective college…there have been a lot of discussions about Reed in previous threads. You can always check them. ccprofile has posted a lot about Reed’s admission procedure for this year after he got accepted…I have seen people from BNKS who used to tell Reed is a worse college and finally could not get a good college for more than two years and landed somewhere in St.Peter’s (I don’t want to hurt anyone so won’t be taking the name of the person. And of course, I don’t mean to say St. peter’s is not good). So guys, while making decision about college don’t rush. A college that you never see in the rankings of USNWR can also be outstanding. There might be good colleges that we never see anywhere in ranking tallies. One more thing, don’t just rely on USNWR for selecting a college. Many colleges have started boycotting the rankings and even Reed did not participate this year…so rankings are getting old…now these people do something called university and colleges accountability network. This is an admission statistics site being run with the co-operation of colleges in the Annapolis Group. You can get to see all the data for free in there…they don’t ask for a premium online registration…

1011 and #1012

I completely agree with you guys. In my opinion, ED is not just about applying to IVY league schools. Its about applying to a college within your reach which gets tougher during RD, trying to put a killer application, getting accepted and finishing the headache of the whole RD thing. An ED college should be something within your reach but not safeties. You can always attempt to apply to a little bit tougher college because many people either miss the ED deadline or are really afraid of the thing called “binding”. But what I insist is, try to ED to the college you believe is your first choice.
Why are we discussing this now? New guys, read previous threads…there have been discussions about why and how to apply…I think we should be sharing about who is applying where this time…

I highly concur with #1024. Reed is now considered as the Western Ivy, so its undeniably not that easy to get in. Regarding the low US News Ranking of Reed, I read somewhere that one of the major factors considered while determining the rank is the participation of Varsity Clubs in athletic conferences. Most of the Liberal Arts Colleges have been member of some sort of athletic conferences. As for example, most of the Liberal Arts College in New England are the member of New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC). As Reed doesn’t have any form of Varsity Clubs, neither are they member of any athletic conference, they hold a low US News Rank.

^^True man. I go with you. Actually, why I suggest people not to believe in the USNWR rankings is that the factors they consider to rank colleges are not the ones which determine the level of the college…more than varsity, the major factor was its boycott of the rankings…they didn’t participate and USNWR ranked them low like they used to do with Sarah Lawrence earlier…

^ Yeah, and they placed Sarah Lawrence among the Tier 3 Colleges. Just for the hell of it ! LOL

^^
I too agree with you in the case of ranking… not only US news I suggest you all to first match your perfection and then just search many review sites and know real student reviews, faculty reviews and many more then if you wish go for some kinda ranking coz ranking is not that much important than we consider… a honor student from any college is considered as a graduate form any top kinda univ so think it that way too. Even though I too go to USNWR sometimes I always refer to www..com and many other reviw sites and then I understand what that ranking is all about.
Correct me if m wrong.

^^
those *** were supposed to be ************** but i dunno wat went wrong… LOL…\o/

and yes about the names of colleges that my college folks are hitting is nothing more than what i m applying so its quite uncertain thing because as my college is a lil bit small no one has opted to US till date except 2 of my folks and both are just aplying to their safeties for them… Mississippi State and other just sum col in St.Luis so now the top thing depends on me… LOL… still on the research so not yet declared.

^^^
I too am on the same boat with you guys.Those rankings may give you some information about the colleges but never full and the rankings aren’t always that true.So while choosing the colleges too always go for your match.Aim high but don’t aim too high so that when you fall you just land nowhere.
My 2cents!!!

@all
I don’t know it’s right or wrong but I guess this math question may help us all.I am going to post it here.
A bookstore is selling a particular book for $15 per copy. At this price it has been selling 20 copies of the book each day. The store owner estimates that for every dollar reduction in the selling price of the book, daily sales will increase by 20 copies. What is the daily sales, S, as a function of price, p?
Any suggestions!!!
Heat up people lets keep the thread alive.Some days it goes on like a bullet train and on others it’s like a snail!!!

s = f(p), function is linear, as a fall in unit price has constant reduction in sales.

=> s = mp + c

p = 15, s = 20 => 20 = 15m + c (1)
and,
p = 14, s = 40 => 40 = 14m + c (2)

(1) - (2),
=> -20 = m
=> c = 320

=> s = 320 - 20 p

or, if you are already comfortable with linear functions,

m = -20, for less $1 (del x) causes 20 sales (del y) increase, m = del y / del x
then, c = 20 + 20 X 15 = 320

[20 for the initial sales, and 15 X 20 for driving down to $0 price]

:)

@sarbaraj
Thanx dude…

Can anybody list me good management colleges or universities?

Maharishi University of Management - Fairfield, Iowa, United States :D

To those already frequenting USEF, this might be an old news but to the others : Lafayette College’s admission representativ is visiting USEF somewhere around 20 or 21st september.

I am not sure though, but I think you migh get a interview (DePaw Offered it but not sure of Lafayette). This might be indication that lafayette is planning to accept more students from Nepal. That might just be a specualtion though.
Best of luck for those intending to apply to Lafayette.

^^^^
Yes you are absolutely correct.Lafayette College representative is coming on 20th September.About the interviews who knows it might happen too!!!

one qn,
