Class of 2015 from Nepal

@rockeroncc
dude, i have this ebook for sat vocab that my sat teacher gave me…though i havent gone through it thoroughly, it seems to be quite a help (atleast to me). check ur inbox.

fhew… finally got what we call the final version of my essay. yet I want it edited by some newspaper editor so anyone knows one???
and now the search for the college to ED and preparation for the test starts…

@prasadian
Thank myan.That was really helpful.
@headache
It is true that almost all colleges give little importance to the Writing(As far as I have heard) but doing good on that section would,in no way,be bad for you.And if you have a score of 700+on both CR and Math and just about 550 on writing it would,in no way,look good.It is only my personal opinion that the writing part is easier than the CR portion(may not be same for others though).So,try to do better in Writing too.

i’ve already given SAT once (hawa taal ma) in my senior year and yes u are right in my case as well, writing is a tad easier. i got 710 so i was hoping it would be considered too lol.
about other sections, don’t ask!

do you guys know about a guy from RBS who got into a university in Hongkong. Just rumors I heard. Any one knows about him ?? Heard he got almost full fee waiver (That just might be a rumor though. If the answer is yes, do you know if he went to either HKU or HKUST or other place ??

ok almost everyone are sure about their ED cols and top choices so why not discuss sth on safeties…
Which colleges are you guys considering as your safeties??

im still uncertain on where to ed…darn i hate it!!

@chandalsaitan…i think we are rather confused about where to ED…my opinion though. We all know our choices but arent quite sure where to ED still. Lets see where people are EDing so that we dont all apply at the same place and ruin each others chances…its not possible but still as far as possible. Its helping each other out…i guess.

St. Peter’s…I guess safety for everyone

@cheche
I too am having the same problem.I am not sure about where to ED yet.

I wanted some help… do HK universities provide good aid to international students? I know that they are superfine educational institutions but money money chinta money!

And how difficult is it to get into HK universities? One of them is the best in Asia(even better than the regular University of Tokyo!)—University of Hong Kong
…can anyone give details about the aid policy for internationals at HK and the acceptance rates…

seems like no one is yet sure about ED including me too… and Is that St. Peter’s the new jersey one?? if yes then how can it be a safety???

@confidential
I too am not confused about that.
And is St. Peter’s College really a safety?It needs the transcript evaluation from WES or others.Is not that an another problem?

Actually when I consulted a lot of seniors and showed them my academic standings and ECAs…and blah blahs…they suggested St. Peter’s…that’s all…and many people I know take St. Peter’s as their safe side…I don’t know abt whether or not they ask for WES evaluation…I posted it coz someone(i think cheche) wanted to know abt safeties…and SPC was in my mind as I had a fresh discussion abt SPC with a senior…that’s all :-)

^^
i think it was me not cheche who wanted to know abt safeties…
thanks for sharing but I don’t think SPC could be a safety for me… you need to apply for fin aid and blah blah… so its kinda reach not a safety… in my case safety stands for some state uni or small cols that give out full ride in scholarship… so anyone can suggest??

@chandalsaitan may i know which are those small coll or state uni that give full ride. You can name colleges other than what you are looking for.
Please, that would be a great help.

@cheche
PM me your safeties and i will mine… you kno i have done a lot of research on all those univ i wake up till 3 in the morning its tiresome to search those safeties… one of them is west liberty univ only if I score more than 27… if i don’t score good i’ll probably go for Chadron State College.

West Liberty is really cheap…total cost of attendance is hardly 15k…this year they have admitted first batch of Nepalese students and most of them got really good scholarships…one was a friend of mine who got full tuition, room and board…and even a campus job! But I am not sure abt their quality of teaching…i have not done much research abt their academic standards

People, I need to ask-
If I have a TOEFL score that ranges within 90-100 (I know it’s low :frowning: ), will it be ok if I get a good CR score? What should I do to make the low TOEFL score seem like it’s not a big deal?

^^
you got it right myan, your CR can just let you with the option of omitting your TOEFL moreover many other ways can replace it… and for your info top univs almost don’t look at TOEFL that seriously if you have a good CR score so no need to worry… i too got less than 100 but don’t worry dude unless you are screw*d with SAT too…
