I think I wouldn’t believe my eyes, and I’d read the letter a few times over and then jump for joy! I’d probably run around my neighbourhood, then phone all my friends and family (:

My D has a class till 6 on Wed. She is threatening to hide her laptop so that her dad and I can’t check her email before she gets home around 6:45. Good Luck to everyone!!!

All future Harvard hopefuls that may be reading this 2, 3, or 4 years in the future to get an idea about your chances, FINISHMYDRINK WAS HERE IN THIS SPOT

Hey everyone, Harvard '14 here. It’s hard to imagine it’s already been a year since the big decision day. I was walking back from a talk tonight (by Paul Harding – Pulizter-Prize-winning author & former Harvard Expos preceptor!) when one of my friends reminded me that the Ivies release decisions tomorrow! I just want to wish all of you luck tomorrow, but also remind you that getting waitlisted or rejected is not the end of things. I had many friends who applied to Harvard or other Ivies who got rejected, and the ended up at great schools that turned out to be a wonderful (maybe even better) fit for them. I can honestly tell you that a year from now, you will most likely love the place you end up, as long as you let yourself be excited and invested in your college choice.

To those who are waitlisted, yes, it’s not easy to get in off the waitlist. My best advice to you is turn most of your attention to the school that accepted you to which you most want to go. However, don’t despair either; although not many people openly talk about the college process or SATs or stuff at Harvard, I’ve found plenty of people who were accepted off the waitlist and are now here. Once you’re here, you’re here; no one will know you didn’t get in right away.

And to those who do get in tomorrow – a hearty congratulations is in order! I hope you are excited and relieved and all sorts of emotions. And I encourage you to come (re)visit Harvard anytime in April. Visitas (pre-frosh weekend) is a lot of fun (my roommates and I are hopefully hosting a few students!), and will be a good chance to meet potential classmates and explore the campus, the classes, the extracurriculars, and more. But even if you can’t go to Visitas, come and check out Harvard and all it has to offer first-hand; you will definitely get a sense of whether or not this is the place you want to be for the next four years. As a very busy student here (who is currently procrastinating on her Expos revision…), you definitely want to make sure that Harvard is a place you can see yourself living and working for the next few years.

Anyway, best of luck to all of you tomorrow! Please feel free to message me or ask me any questions, and I’ll do my best to answer.
