Class of 2016: EA/Regular decision discussion

@hotpinkalicia: do you mind typing the first paragraph of your acceptance letter for those who haven’t gotten them yet? i would really reallly appreciate it!! :D

@cuddlemecozy: “It gives me great pleasure to inform you that the Committee on Admissions has voted to accept your application for admission to Georgetown University. I am happy to offer you a place in the first-year class for the fall of 2012.”

Good luck!

@hotpinkalicia: thanks!! which school did you apply to??

@cuddlemecozy Georgetown College Mathematics

So far, everybody I know who has applied to SFS has gotten deferred, including my school’s valedictorian. I don’t know anyone who has gotten in yet. This is really worrying me.

is a 3.5 UW gpa EXTREMELY low?

^I wouldn’t say it’s extremely low at all, but it is below average. I feel like it would be an obstacle to getting in rather than something that completely eliminates your chances.

i don’t think that it is low, by any means, but its considered “low” by georgetown standards does anyone agree with me?

Clearly none of you have watched the wire.

And unrelated, but do you think I have a chance at EA or RD when my weighted GPA is nearly ten points lower than the valedictorian, mostly because of course rigor. My unweighted is a 93 and weighted it is only 2 points higher. Ughhh I wish I took “harder” classes :(

Oh and how I’m spending the rest of my wait: going to my game, doing my calc homework (simple antiderivatives, doesn’t sound nearly as hard as cyndrilical whatever you said…) and listening to Pavement for the rest of the day.

^ Yes Pavement is amazing. I may just put on Brighten the Corners to finish my Comp Pol homework now.

The first thing I’m doing when I become rich and/or famous is buying the $600 slay tracks vinyl.

It’s funny how we all started this application at the end of the summer/beginning of school year, worked hard on it, and have all probably created a hundred imaginary scenarios of getting the letter. And this week we’re going to get it for real. I don’t know if I’m even going to be able to open it.

^ omg exactly!! i’ve tried to stop myself from fantasizing about it but i’ve pictured myself getting accepted and bragging about it so many times, and i feel like that’s going to make it so much worse when i inevitably get deferred :(

Does anyone know when international students get their emails? I’m pulling my hair out over here… :S And do we get phone calls if we get accepted as well?

At least we feel each other’s pain :stuck_out_tongue:
Good luck to you, though :)

@iheartgtown: probably december 15th, if past experiences of int applicants on cc are any indication ;)

In the past, I heard that international students will be emailed on Dec. 15. However, I could be completely wrong.

are we certain that most people in the us will receive letters tomorrow??

What?!?! D: I was assuming I’d get it tomorrow since that’s what the consensus seems to be regarding most US applicants getting their letters :S
