Class of 2018 acceptance numbers?

Just curious have they released the numbers for this year yet? I saw somewhere it was around 50,000 applications do we know how many they have accepted yet?

SupremeStudent, Michigan admitted 15,500 last year. I would estimate Michigan will admit 16,000 this year.

Alexandre - are you finally admitting that the yield may go down gradually over time? :>

Not really wayne. In fact, the yield will increase over time. It has been 39%-40% for the last 5 years, and this won’t change this year or for the next 2-3 years. However, I see it going up to 45%-50% in the coming years, as Michigan’s increased selectivity and improved FA will make the university more desirable. I am estimating 16,000 acceptances because the University is aiming for a larger Freshman class.

Are they? I thought the freshman class has been above the ideal range of 5,000-6,000 for the past several years. Wouldn’t they want to shrink the acceptance numbers to decrease the class size?

The yield rate in the last few years are as follow:
2009 43.2%
2010 43.2%
2011 40.8%
2012 41.5%
2013 39.5%

They have received 50488 applications this year (around 8% higher than last year). The admission number is not out yet. Last year, it was reported on newspaper on May 23.

I think they are still expecting a class of 6200-6500. The admission office said they are trying to fill 6000 seats at the Campus Day session, but it has been over 6000 for many years.
