Class of 2018 ( From Nepal )

@sixstringsrocker
What was your SAT score?

800m, 610 cr

Not that it matters much. It’s a lot more than the stats.

Hey guys why isn’t this thread active…Its been 9 days since last post…Where are all busy?

Because the main application process is still months away.

Just been busy that’s all mate…!!

Its not only about the main application process… We have lots of other things to discuss besides that like universities, sat prepn… I guess you won’t be discussing about the colleges at the last hour… Just sayin…

Well no not really but at the moment I am just having issues with my family!!

Why is it necessary to discuss colleges? There is enough information on past threads as well as on college websites. It would be redundant unless you have very specific questions. SAT Preparation? What is there to it? It’s not a very difficult test. At least compared to two years of A Levels or IB.

Your post is redundant actually. How can you say SAT is easy for all of us? Are there only A levels and IB students applying for US? We all have some difficulty level for English…

When did I ever say it is easy? I just said it’s not very difficult and it’s more useful to actually go work on it than to ramble on how hard it is on CC.

And yes, the SAT pales in comparison to +2 too given the amount of work you need to put into that.

Also, my post isn’t redundant. It just is an attempt to reduce superfluous posts on CC. What you are wondering about has probably been asked before. Perhaps a little more sense next time?

Difficulty level? English? seriously? This is high school level English. The SAT tests whether or not you have mastered high school level English (or whether or not you are at a level required for college work). If you find it difficult, how will you survive in an American college?

Difficulty level? English? seriously? This is high school level English.

You’re talking about US high school or what? Do you think the level of English of US and Nepal are same?

I didn’t ramble about anything.

Regarding surviving in US colleges I guess I have more score in SAT than you do. I am saying its not easy for all of us to get good SAT scores cause there are some elite students whose English is weak and what goes wrong in suggesting them?

But actually if you find these posts superfluous you are not welcomed to post…Who is compelling you? There are thousands of users in CC and thousands of posts? How can you say that they are superfluous…? If you don’t want to answer any queries or help others then stop commenting…We don’t want negativity around here…

“I guess I have more score in SAT than you do” lol sure just looking at the quality of your posts anybody would believe that (what is more humorously inane is the implication that the SAT can be TRULY used as an indicator for college success as opposed to actual high school success and solid writing and critical reading skills  - although I hope you note that I haven’t said that this is NOT how colleges interpret standardized tests nor have I said that it doesn’t measure any type of grasp of the English language.)

Moving on, I never said that all those ALL those posts are superfluous. I am just saying that it would be efficient if people see whether or not their questions have been asked before posting them by googling or something. That is totally the case for SAT preparation: you will find far too many posts and threads for it on CC than you need. That is hardly ‘negativity’ - that advice is actually more helpful than a one- or two-sided suggestion you may receive if you ask some Nepali who is active here for the Class of 2018 (totally superfluous). I also hope you did not interpret my suggestion as something negative as that was not my intention at all and neither was it to question your abilities or intentions. After all, discussion is what is this forum is all about? And also, I do not think you will be able to stop me from posting :)

ha ha you got me…But it may be cos I understand meanings of the words rather then using them practically…

You guys were really goin on at it. Well so it seems at least! Anyways the vocabulary portion of the SATs is definitely testing especially if you are a +2 student, like myself, rather than an A levels or and IB student! But ultimately the tests aren’t everything there are far more things to consider for the application process and we might even consider that as a topic worth discussing. And as far as college search goes I agree with phantasmagoria; it is a personal thing so as to say but if anyone wants to share it they’re more than welcome!

Ya If we share the colleges then we will have an idea of which others are considering their safeties and same way we can get to know which will be safeties for us… Ya it sucks for a +2 student… English was like last minute study subject for most of us!!

I think of all colleges you apply to, safety schools should be kept private. Why cause the competition to intensify and jeopardize your own chances? Sounds selfish, I know, but it’s how things should work.

Hello friends! Does anybody know where to find SAT preparation books? Actually I am not a resident of Kathmandu and I am planning to go there this week. I couldn’t find any SAT preparation books in Pokhara except Barron’s.

Get it from the shop beside Kashmiri Mashjid in Jamal…

Guess you mean jamay masjid right ameetbh?

Ok. Thank you ameetbh
