My daughter finally heard — 2 acceptances (Brandeis and Earlham) in the past 24 hours. Waiting for 7 more…

Will post update tomorrow, as we will be hearing from two more schools – the wait is very hard, lol. Harder for me than D14, because I’m more stressed about the financial aspect of it

During the past week, DS was offered admission to WUSTL, Vanderbilt, and U of Miami. WUSTL is off the table now since it’s the only one that did not offer him a full-tuition merit scholarship.

Here is my son’s list: EA acceptances, University of Pittsburgh Honors with small $$ scholarship
Penn State - no financial
U of Michigan w/$45k merit scholarship
GT -deferred at EA, found out today wait listed.
Northeastern - waiting
Case Western - wait listed - found out today
Major is Chemical Engineering.
Good luck to all and Congrats! to all who were accepted at their choice school.

In response to Milkweed, above, we have only heard that our daughter was wait listed at WashU. We are waiting on Wesleyan, Wellesley, Vassar, Georgetown, Notre Dame, Middlebury and Amherst. Does anyone have any updates on those? Thanks!!

Vassar updated its site to say that decisions will be available after the close of business on March 26th.

has anybody got their deferrals decision from any colleges accepted? Has purdue, west Lafayette acceptance is it a good enough college to go?
…international applicants…scholastic and leadership oriented kid…really axious

Accepted:

Rutgers
Case Western (EA)
Villanova (EA)
Fairfield (EA)

Rejected:

U of T- Austin

Waitlisted:

UC at Santa Barbera

Waiting to hear from 5 more. First choice is still pending but Villanova and Case Western high on list.

In case you haven’t seen it in the Acceptances thread, you are all invited to post acceptances in the lists in this Google doc: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1ZxUwgbCqcCpq4L_2L4lAhqcKQAN0AyGHDAjf1rDX9rI/edit?usp=sharing

Congrats to all for the good news!

@4kidsohmy: Wellesley is going to post decisions on their portal on Tuesday March 25.

Argh, the waiting is so difficult!! @PetraElise, I totally agree. I know my D is anxious, but I think I’m probably MORE anxious because the financial aid part is such a huge concern for our family.

She’s heard from 2 schools so far (EA) but neither one offered her enough aid to be able to attend. One (Bard) we knew going in would not be generous, but the other (Hampshire) had a wonky NPC on their site at the time she applied, which indicated they would give her enough, at least putting it in the ballpark with her other schools. Wouldn’t you know it, in December they finally upgraded to the CollegeBoard NPC calculator and suddenly the net price came out much higher!!! So her safety is now unaffordable :(

Waiting to hear from the others: should hear from 2 tomorrow and 2 by mid-week next. Since the safety is now no longer an option financially, this is VERY stressful!!!

My daughter was denied at Macalester today. Their letter stated they received more than 6,400 applications for 515 spots! Unreal. We applied for FA- guess we’ll never know if that had anything to do with it at all.

So to recap, we have 7 acceptances: U Delaware w/merit, Clark U w/merit, Rutgers, TCNJ, Binghamton (but denied at SoE), CUNY (all schools), and Virginia Tech.

Waitlisted at RPI.

Rejected at Macalester.

Still waiting to hear from: William & Mary, U Richmond, Smith, and U Maryland.

Rejected at Dickinson, Accepted at lafayette. This is a really random process isn’t it

Just heard back from the last school. My D is accepted to Northwestern RD studying Engineering.

S received Gator Nation OOS Tuition waiver today. Stoked

My D applied EA to four schools, RA to four.
She was accepted with merit scholarship to Tulane before Thanksgiving.
She has been deferred to every other school that she has heard from, including:
Boston C, UWisc (OOS), UMich (OOS), Macalester. Still waiting on top choices.

At least the acceptance makes the process a little easier.

Decisions are in for Magnegirl. Her stats: 3.53 GPA (UW, now up to a 3.58) 33 ACT (one sitting, no prep), 4 APs, track, xc, creative writing club, ORCA Bowl team, select and premier soccer. Wants to major in Zoology. With two kids in college next year, our EFC is about $10k per kid.

Colorado College - rejected, but kind of expected with her GPA.
Colorado State U - accepted but rejected by Honors College, WUE scholarship but no other grants or scholarships, so about $33k out-of-pocket. No way.
Willamette - accepted, $21k merit and $4k grant, so still $30k out-of-pocket.
Wyoming - accepted, $5500 Rocky Mountain Scholars but not WUE, $23k out-of-pocket.
Humboldt - accepted, no financial aid numbers but not expecting anything, so $26k/yr.
U Montana - accepted, Honors College, WUE scholarship, about $20k/yr.
Washington State - in-state, Honors College, $8K of automatic merit scholarships leaving $18k out-of-pocket.

No deposit sent yet, but most likely at this point it will be WSU and lots of loans.

Some good news, Magnetron. Does she have a favorite?

She liked WSU slightly better than Montana. I was really pulling for a better FA package from Willamette. The wife is a little uncomfortable with Missoula being “Rape City, USA,” and would prefer she not go there. We may still fly out to Wyoming for spring break but only if some departmental money comes through.

Another update: daughter waitlisted at Smith. Wow, this one she is really bummed about, had such a good feeling about her chances. Very hard as a parent to see this when you know how hard your kid worked. Sigh.
