Class of 2018

Im hoping to apply ED to Brown next fall as i am a junior now. I have a 4.2 GPA on the 4.5 weighted scale with a 2100 on the SAT, although i plan to take it a second time this coming month. My extracurriculars include:
-very active FBLA member, i recently placed second in the state in Global Business, participate in various club related fundraisers and charitable efforts
-School aviation club, stock market club
-JV Indoor Track and JV Golf
-Active participant and upperclassman leader of Church youth group (planning and attending soup kitchens, fundraisers, retreats ect.) with this group; i also take an annual nine day mission work trip over the summer, so far we’ve done Kentucky and Chicago and will be headed to West Virginia in July
-Class of 2014 student representative to the board of education- competitive, interview process for appointment, participate in lobbying at state capital and advising the board

 • I have worked at a local Country Club for about a year now and plan to continue until i go to college

I have taken all honors courses and will have 9 APs racked up by the end of high school, i have only taken one exam thus far but i got a 5 and i anticipate doing well on the 3 i will be taking this may. Brown has admitted 11 of 90 applicant from my high school over the last 9 years. Im fairly personable and feel i would do well in the interview. Also, I have teachers who will write great recommendations.

What are my odds of getting in and what can i do to improve my chances? Thanks

Most of the experienced writers here will not give odds or chances, as it is just that sort of unpredictable thing. Your school statistics, esp for the most recent 5 years or so will give your the best estimate. If you want to figure out about how strong your application can be, your school should have someone who knows, or records of the people who did get accepted, and those who applied who didn’t. Your college adviser (and I presume your school has a good one since those are above average admission rates) can give you the best idea of if you may be a fit for Brown and other schools. Then the final part is up to you in learning all you can about the schools you are most interested in, and writing some really tremendous application essays. (The best ones really sound like your own voice, and give interesting insight into who you really are.)
