Class of 2019 Boston College Early Action

Had no portal change in MA today, got letter today, rejected… They had 9,000 applicants for EA which makes me feel better.

Congratulations to those accepted–BC is truly an amazing place. Good luck everyone still waiting. Please don’t read too much into the portal. Mail will come. My best wishes !!

GO EAGLES

deferred in ny, no portal change

I’m really interested to see what the acceptance rate for early action was/how many were admitted, defered and denied.

The way I see it, @jchan9423‌ , BC has stated over and over again that the only sure method of finding out if you are accepted is via the letter they send out by mail. Any other speculation about the portal/tabs/whatever is entirely of our own doing and is irrelevant to the school because they continuously have stated what their policy is. Should they have been clearer? I mean I guess, but ultimately everyone will get their letter by Christmas, and that is what matters in the end. Good luck!

All the wild portal speculation just drives everyone crazy. Wait for the mail.

I have a twin sister who applied to all the same early schools as me, and we both got the same decisions (deferred), which is a bit frustrating since her stats are a bit different than mine. Still waiting on BC letter.

South Florida and no mail. Checked the portal and it has the tab Pay Enrollment Confirmation Fee and also a new Financial Aid tab - am I in??? Stats:

Weighted GPA 4.8
AP Scholar with Distinction
11 APs
National Merit Scholar Commended (missed National Merit Finalist cut-off by one point)
National Honor Society
33 ACT with 35 in Biology (want pre med)
High School Swim Team - State finalist and All American
Club Swim team - sectional finalist
Shadow at ER and other community service
Catholic educated since preschool
Great recommendations and a quirky essay that English teacher said was one of the best he has seen

My daughter was accepted today she has a 4.6 weighted GPA, got a 2200 on her SAT and has taken 7 AP course and mostly all other were honors level.

@brenbell - yes, BC’s public position has been consistent that the official notification will be by US mail only. But, look at message #465 by @23mhead:

“Only A, C, D, and E are shown. In the letter they sent
me, they say the website for admitted student services will be available starting the 22nd (tomorrow). And thank you!”

they mailed on Friday Dec 19, 2014 and expect all of US to receive it by then or will they just update those whom they have informed by email?

Completely agree with you that all anxiety is self-inflicted, but we are talking about teenagers here, not zen-monks…they can’t help it. As adults in the room, BC should be held to higher standards.

Deferred
GPA 4.0 unweighted
Full IB diploma, 4 APs
33 ACT
Great ECs with leadership
Good letters of rec
A little surprised by this since I got into honors at Northeastern with a large scholarship, and full tuition at providence college. It’s all good though, congrats to everyone who got accepted!

What type of envelope did it come in? His letter arrived today and my son is not home and I am curious.

An earlier post(post number 285 in this thread) from @briwilis said:

My guidance counselor received an email from the BC Admissions this morning about early applications… They received 9,000 Early Action applications (as opposed to 5,500 last year), accepted 2,700, deferred 4,000, and denied 3,000 (all approx.). Now I’m so nervous!

Wow so BC accepted their whole Freshman class in one round…
