Has anyone gotten the Presidential Scholarship letter yet?

I’m from Los Angeles, CA

I’m in Southern California right outside the LA area.

@wishful2015 I also live right outside LA (Thousand Oaks) so you should have gotten yours already!

Oh yeah I got my letter already and got deferred

@wishful2015 oh sorry yeah I knew that haha would you happen to know how many deferrals become acceptances?

how can CA get their letters before me? I live in NY about 2-3 hours from BC and still have not received anything

deferred

gpa/rank: school doesn’t rank
ECs: some, not that great
essays: okay, but I don’t really know now
recs: didn’t read
I was expecting a deferral since I guessed accurately for two other schools I was deferred to (deferred all my ea schools), but it still makes me a little anxious about regular decision. I guess I’ll see . . .

@mikeyzhit I am not sure but I am assuming that not all the people who got in EA are taking a spot so there is some hope :)

It’ll probably kick in later how bummed I am . . . BC was my top choice after my other deferrals

outright REJECTED… honestly kind of surprised I wasn’t at least deferred.

CSOM – Finance major
2020 SAT
3.8 uw/4.0 w (will be 4.1 after first semester)
6 APs/17 honors
fluent in french
member of several honor societies
not many ec’s, b/c I decided to spend as much time as possible doing ballet (10-12 hours a week)

I already got I to penn state and St. Andrews (Scotland), so I’m not terribly worried. But now I’m absolutely terrified that I won’t get into NYU (my dream school) :-S
Anyways, I feel kind of weird because I didn’t expect to get completely rejected (whether or not that’s right…)

What’s weird is that I actually met the admissions officer who deferred me – he visited my school and we talked a bit and he was pretty nice, but I don’t know if that did anything. I think only one admissions officer makes the decisions for each applicant by region, so it’s pretty weird to have met the person who decided my deferral

Decision: ACCEPTED

SAT: 2100 (M 620, R 730, W 750)
Course Load: Full IB diploma
ECs:
President of class, president of model Un, president of Debate team, service clubs, theatre musician, classically trained violin
Several others
Recs: very strong and well written
Essays: discussed writing and composing songs based off a novel and the endless interpretative nature of literature

Advice: show your passion for whatever it is that you love. Passion and dedication is what makes you stand out; it’s not always the scores!

ACCEPTED into CSOM
ACT: 28
SAT: 1900
2 AP’s 3 Honors
GPA: 3.5 unweighted 3.9 weighted

Reading the stats of those admitted, deferred, and rejected on this thread has solidified my opinion that the admissions prospect is a crapshoot! Congratulations to those accepted, and to those (like me) who were deferred, there is still hope! To those that were denied, there is a school out there that is a perfect for you, so don’t despair (for too long). :)
