Looks like someone in the admissions office made a big boo-boo, based on the description of what people are saying, it sounds like whoever got a change got accepted and their ad-com must have put it in the system way early. Heads may roll for this kind of mistake.

The irony of @LosingSanity calming me down is not lost on me lol. Thanks mate.

If it changed back then it is definitely no fluke, they realized it went live and people were seeing it and took it back down again. If you saw a change I would feel very happy with myself rn.

Did any of you guys try to check, “applicant status” and have it request your birthday, and when you tried to enter it, it said, “No student found?” It happened last night to me and I’m confused.

In the past, if you have the option of paying a deposit you were accepted!!!

Do you guys think it changed momentarily for all students who were accepted, or just the ones under the admissions officer who may have changed the status on the portal by accident?

@aliciaross168 That would be my guess.

Well if you’re up for a little detective work then I guess the next question to ask is where are the people who had the change from. Admissions counselors are usually assigned regions so if the people who saw the change happened to be from the same region then you can posit that it’s a specific admissions counselors error. But if they’re from completely different regions then you could assume it was something else like a server issue.

But personally that’s a lot of work so let’s just accept that it was a BC error and that everyone will know next week.

Can someone who had the portal change log back in and see if it changed back? If hasn’t changed back, it’s not a fluke

Also, I wonder if that could mean admissions decisions are done and will be sent out soon

@LosingSanity, yea I would assume the decisions are done and they’re updating individual students portals to reflect that change once the letters are out.

If that’s the case, @jaredstone4 and @Coolkid999 where are you guys from (if you don’t mind, of course)? Kind of losing all hope for attending my #1 right now, I know it might be a fluke so sorry for freaking out about it.

@aliciaross168 Albany, NY

Someone should tweet the BC Admissions account and ask what’s going on lol

@kathoderberg YES the same exact thing happened to me. Yesterday when I tried to login to my portal, it asked for my birthday and then told me “no student found.” Anyone else? Is this indicative of good news or irrelevant?

Yeah, @kathoderberg, that happened to me too. I called the school today, and they said that its like because I changed the password or something, and they reset it. But by the time I changed it, it just said the original thing on the portal

Regarding the Portal message change today:

@njkid2197 @TBBT123 I’m so glad I’m not the only one. Let’s hope it means something good? It seemed to me like it was trying to log us into the regular BC student portal (like for current students), but maybe that’s just wishful thinking??

To everyone else: looking at past years’ threads, the portal is always messed up and not experiencing changes definitely does not equate to a rejection/deferral.

Does anyone know if those students living abroad receive some sort of email aside from the letter?

@jj2332, that’s for students starting in January 2015. Here’s what it says:

Students planning to enroll in January 2015
-Admission decisions will be sent via email by December 15, 2014.

Students planning to enroll in September 2015
-Early Action Admission decisions will be mailed by December 25, 2014
-Regular Admission decisions will be released by April 1, 2015
-Transfer Admission decision for Fall 2015 will be by May 31st.

Please note that Boston College does NOT post admission decisions on line.
