Class of 2019 Rejections, Denials etc.

@Christyflower‌ - how were you notified by TCU?

No from Pepperdine, UCSB and UCD

TCU Notified by email this afternoon

Webster says not to expect anything until April 1st.

Thanks @jeshmom. You saved me a phone call. Its going to be a long 2 weeks!! I am assuming snail mail?

Carnegie Mellon sent out an email that we’ll be notified this Saturday of admittance!

I’m curious, was anyone turned down by Stevens Point? And for those who got the alternate spots (us incl.) was your kid told by the adjudicators at their audition they would “most certainly get a spot or an alternate at the very least”?
If you don’t feel comfortable posting denials, you can pm me. (I smell shenanigans, so I’m investigating.)

For those of you who applied to Webster, what does your major say in Webster’s online portal/candidate log in? Mine says Musical Theater and it’s probably just a reference to what I applied for, but does everyone’s status say this?

@MTKristine12 curious, did you receive that email today, or yesterday?

It is official Point Park BFA! The letter came today. We can now relax, cheer all of you on and know that anything else that comes our way is icing on the cake.

@attheballet Yes. Ours still says MT as well; has from the beginning.

@pghmusician…I love the word “shenanigans!” Sounds a wee bit naughty.

My daughter received an alternate position from UWSP also. They were friendly at auditions but did not tell her she had a spot, alternate or otherwise. Please post if you cannot find any rejections. We would be disappointed if there were said shenanigans, for as you know, their letter was very optimistic! We even sent in a tuition deposit to ensure we had a spot, as the school said that if it met its quota before a tuition deposit was received, even though you were accepted, you would be denied admittance into the University. I’m not going to tell D any of this, just in case…

I hope everything is ok. grey, but that is kind of illegal. Good Luck to you.

@greyros It’s just a hunch at this point. For such a small regional school and a small program (I think 10-12 spots) having so many on alternate with just a small sampling seems fishy. Another fb board shows 4 alternates also…
I wouldn’t worry about it just yet. Not much to do about it anyways besides have more than one plan.

I’m not really worried…yet. I know other schools have sent out acceptances and waitlist but not yet rejections. I am hopeful that is the case with UWSP also. It is not illegal about the quota for the University. It’s a Wisconsin thing to prevent overcrowding. Nothing to do with the program, just the campus.

oh, ok, sorry. I thought you legally had until May 1st to commit.

Er…is it me, or has nobody else ever heard of the practice of asking for a tuition deposit from people on the waitlist? I’m confused. I hope. And yes, @terridemo, you should have till May 1st to commit, although at some schools, it can be hard to get housing if you don’t decide earlier.

It’s not a commitment. It’s fully refundable until May 1

The tuition deposit was for the University itself. They send out academic acceptances with a letter urging the refundable deposits because of their state mandated quota. I didn’t want any inaction on my part to keep my daughter from that school in case of an artistic acceptance. We do have other options but really liked this program. Time will tell!
