Class of 2019 Rejections, Denials etc.

@pookiesunshine good news from CCM comes first via email from the dept., usually Aubrey Berg.

@mommabears26 By online portal, do you mean MyPennState???

Yes. On the left side of mypennstate

Our page on MyPennState still says: “A decision will be available here as soon as one is made”.

@MTDadandProud‌ Did you audition on or before Jan 31st? That is when the people notified today auditioned I believe. Also, check the mailbox. I saw nothing on the website but found my deferral in the mail. Very excited about that!

S got a letter from Penn State today that said he was a “Deferred Decision”.

Deferral means you are still in the hunt- congrats!!

@ MT

I guess “Deferred Decision” is kind of waitlisted?

Yes

@MTDadandProud what does your MyPennState site say??

This under Application Status:

Thank you for submitting the academic requirements of the application. To complete your application, please be sure you have reviewed and submitted the interview, portfolio, pre-screen and/or audition requirements for your intended major at: https://artsandarchitecture.psu.edu/howtoapply. A decision will be available here as soon as one is made.

Deferred isn’t actually wait listed - it is decision deferred until all auditions are complete and then a decision will be made - at that time it could be accept, reject or wait list. It certainly is a good thing though!

They are making two stacks: The No stack and the Maybe stack. Maybe stack gets a “deferred” letter for now. They will get a yes, no or waitlisted (if they do wait lists) later. Deferred is definately not a waitlist.

Two “no’s” from Chicago Unifieds – University of Oklahoma and CCM. University of Oklahoma was an email, CCM was a “no” on the online status page. We could really use a “yes” about now.

Hang in their Diva. It’s still early. She’ll get her acceptance!

No for me from CCM. Its a good thing because I hated the audition experience and hope they give offers to people who actually have interest in attendance.

D hasn’t checked her CCM status but, no hold email so I’m thinking it is a no. Not gonna bother checking Penn State cause that one didn’t go so well. I see one acceptance from TCU at Chicago Unifieds. Any rejections that we know of?

We have 3 kids in college and one following behind a few years after and simply can’t afford that much. I was not criticizing or judging, simply making a joke. And for the record, I made a lot of money waitressing after college. It was the hardest thing to tell your child they can’t go to a school because you don’t have the money. By the way, we sent the same child to an outstanding performing arts boarding school (with a partial scholarship) so we do understand sacrificing for a great education. The reason I wrote the post is because we did not find out that Art (Hartt) students were excluded from the University’s academic schlarships. It was not until after we booked our orientation weekend that we got the financial information. We wished we knew that before because it is the only school we found that does that.

There are actually a number of schools that don’t offer academic scholarships to performing arts majors. I too had to tell my child that she couldn’t got to a school because it was just too expensive for me, a single parent. It’s painful!
