Class of 2019 Results: Celebrate, Discuss, Support Here

We’ve had only good news so far - D accepted to Wellesley, MHC, Bryn Mawr, Connecticut College UCSD and Scripps college. We have 5 more decisions to go. We haven’t heard from her “reach” schools (2 ivies), but if she doesn’t get in to those, then we are going to need to scramble, as she hasn’t visited the southern california schools, Bryn Mawr or western Mass. (Smith may yet be in that mix). Her spring break is next week - I have the feeling I may need to shell out for a couple of plane tickets on short notice. A good problem to have, I admit, but it’s kind of a rocket ride…

@scusc My neighbor was waitlisted at Santa Clara last year and he was accepted in late April into the business school. His grades and ACT scores were on the low end of the range. He was very surprised (and happy) that he got accepted. I love the admissions people at SCU. If I were you, I would email your admissions counselor and let him/her know that it is your first choice. Good luck!!

@isaelijohjac‌ regarding university of Kentucky acceptance. …do you know about the level of challenge in classroom? I’ve inquired through c.c. and heard a few stories all of which state university classes not difficult, students skip class and still earn good grades…any thoughts or anecdotes, opinions or first hand experience? We live in Midwest and our son earned the Patterson at u.of.k. as well. Great financial opportunity but concerned it may be better to take financial aid loans and attend more challenging options…

@honestmom‌! !! Thank you so much.please share your academic experience and perspective on caliber of education. …we love the campus and son loves the south.we know little except that his entrance stats are way above current numbers listed for the school.he attends a rigorous private school now (total full ride) which is only way he could have attended.

@vegemama‌ I totally understand your angst.i am obsessed with the wait while my son is chill.he has been calming ME down. Not sure why I am so anxious as he has been accepted so far to all schools he has heard from.his top choices won’t release till 31st. He’s OSS for all of them and all are probably out of reach. My husband thinks I’m nuts and need a new hobby

@123Monkey thanks for your reply. My D also has been admitted to 9/9 colleges she has heard from and is waiting to hear from Brown which she is honestly ambivalent about (she wants to run d3 xc) She is thrilled and so, so confused (she has no clear top choice) and honestly feels embarrassed when friends ask her where she got in. It’s such an emotional time for our kids and their friends that it’s no wonder we feel a bit obsessed also. Good luck to your son on Tuesday.

@dottie97 Thanks! Do you know if he did anything additional to just accepting the waitlist offwr (letter of appeal, more letters of recommendation, etc.)?

@scusc He didn’t do anything extra. He hadn’t even visited the school. He didn’t apply for financial aid so that may have helped. My daughter has been accepted to SCU and we’ve had contact with her admission counselor. I would recommend sending yours an email just to let them know that it is your top choice. Good luck!

@123Monkey What do you want to know? Send me a private message and I will answer if I can.

Got accepted into Colorado State University, University of Rhode Island, University of Connecticut, University of Kentucky, and California Polytechnic State University SLO!

@honestmom‌ how do I post private message?

Do any of you have the feeling that your kids are totally grooving on the power the decision gives them? Are you articulating your preferences at all?

Well today was a whirlwind. My daughter was accepted to Harvard University, Brown University, UPenn, Princeton University and a few other Ivies! She couldn’t be more thrilled and neither could I. I am proud of her achievements. She was denied by her dream school, Columbia University.

Son is down to UVA and University of South Carolina’s number honors college. Decision hopefully to be made this week after a couple road trips

Daughter was accepted to York of pa, Bridgewater college ferrum college Elizabethtown and umd college park. All awarded scholarships and honors. Chose umd with full banneker key and university honors.

Son was accepted at Stanford, Berkeley, UCLA, UNC-Chapel Hill, UC Davis and U of Utah. We were very surprised to see that there is not a significant difference in cost between the UC schools and Stanford. (Except Davis where he received a Regents scholarship & fellowship). In light of this he is Stanford bound:))

Daughters applied to 22 schools each. Accepted at most, with a couple rejections and waitlists, and some unexpected Ivy acceptances, but ultimately they decided on University of Pittsburgh and University of Richmond. Full ride to Pitt and full tuition at Richmond. Deposits are in, school apparel is ordered. They are very excited, as are we.

@OffTheyGo Awesome! I assume they are twins? Congrats on the wonderful scholarships and acceptances.

Good luck to both of them.

Hmmm I thought there was a ‘decisions’ thread for this group but not seeing it right away and no time to look–daughter is Pomona bound!

Daughter was UCLA bound until she got admitted off the waiting list at Pomona college. Anyone interested in UCLA Dad t-shirts? LOL
