Daughter applied to five schools. Accepted at 4, wait-listed (then rejected) at 1 (Harvard). Will be attending the University of Virginia. Go Hoos!
Son applied to about 15 schools. Many more waitlists and rejections than we expected, especially since 2 acceptances were Princeton and Yale. Yale was his decision. Very good FA package.
@Community2605 It could be yield protection on many schools’ part. My son has a similar situation, and he is going to Yale too!
@hzhao2004 - What rez college did he get assigned to? There’s a Zhao in my son’s suite.
@Community2605 Really? Davenport.
VelveteenKid applied to 12 schools but only cared about Navy and Army. We dropped him off at West Point on 6/29, only three weeks after HS graduation. We’re probably the only parents on CC who prayed their kid would NOT get into his dream schools. Guess we’re a military family now. Beat Navy?
VelveteenR, I just wanted to congratulate you on your child’s admission to West Point! What an accomplishment! I can only imagine it might be kind of bittersweet and stressful, as it can be a whole new world. I know 3 people who went through West Point in the 80’s and loved it. It was an awesome experience for them. Prayers for you and the VelveteenKid, and I love your username!
My son was accepted to USC and UCLA! These were both of his top choices. My husband and I are both Trojan, but we tried to keep our bias on the bench. He ended up choosing USC, much to our excitement. We were so excited when we saw the mail man with the large red envelope, that we nearly ran him over. Fight on!
