I got into UCM and got rejected to other UCs i applied to (UCI, UCSB, UCLA, etc. ) but i got the letter of admission for Merced a couple weeks ago as a biology major but i REALLY want to go to UCR… my gpa is 3.26 weighted and my SAT is 1750 and i applied for biology and alternative as biochemistry and on the 25th got an email saying that i was a qualified student that couldnt be admitted due to the large amount of students admitted so they gave me an option to he waitlisted in CNAS and im soo nervous to see if i can get in… help… what are the chances of me being admitted…
hmm ik someone who got waitlisted undecided with a 1630 sat and 3.3 weighted, i think she might have a good chance because it’s a little easier to get into the College of humanities etc. I believe you might have a chance, because a 1750 is really good, did you write an appeal?
Last year’s waitlist Stats:
Riverside 4,600+ offers
(only certain selective majors)
58% opt-ins
257 admits
It’s pretty unpredictable sadly. Depends mainly on how many accepted students SIR to UCR and if there is any remaining space left. UCR relies heavily on selecting by major and I know that BCOE and CNAS are probably the toughest. (Mostly BCOE since it is highly ranked and very well respected.) Biology is a very popular major at UCR so I would see why they are more selective with that major. I applied under CHASS with an English major and was sent my acceptance letter the day they started. I believe if I would have applied under CNAS I would have probably gotten my acceptance a lot later. I tried changing my major to Bioengineering and I was denied due to my GPA/Test scores not meeting the requirements for admission into BCOE. I changed my major to Microbiology and it was allowed. I believe that was all testament to just how selective they are with certain majors. I have a 3.9 UC GPA but my SAT wasn’t very good. Just hope for the best. I was waitlisted to UCSC but if it helps, this is the year where the waitlist was used the most and they plan on accepting a lot more waitlisted students than before.
@ucrpleaseadmitme i understand how you feel man. i got waitlisted as an english major for CHASS and I don’t want to go to another university aside from UCR right now too. I was wondering though, if you guys know when their waitlist will come out? i really want to go and I hope the best for the both of us.
And my weighted is like 3.0 with a 1610 SAT
I’m getting so nervous about my admissions status for ucr too. I applied as a pre-business major and got waitlisted for CHASS. After hearing about the number of people admitted from last year’s waitlist, i really doubt that i am getting into this school. i already got rejected from uci, ucd, csulb. cpp was the only school that accepted me so far and i still haven’t heard back from csuf yet. i really do wish to go here.
@rosettepetals This year, due to budget problems or something, more people are said to have been waitlisted than previous years. Assuming that these budget problems were resolved, it should also mean that more people will be accepted off of the waitlist than have been in past years, so maybe your chances are better than they may seem? Good luck
@DPattt Agree with you
@Oracion @DPatt do you know when they are sending out the offers? Like by what day they would stop?
@shazelz I don’t think there is a specific day, the info on the website is very unclear ( they says Mid-May)
I’d say the day the release their wl decisions is probably around May 10, and ends before a week from June 1st, because most colleges allow one week for you to accept your offer if you got admitted from wl
This year becomes extremely competitive due to the budget problem
I’m not very sure, but based on current condition, I don’t think they worked it out yet:(
I was wait listed to UCR as well. I have a 3.5 GPA (weighted); however, my SAT score wasn’t that great, it was in the 1400’s. I applied as undeclared major. I really wanted to go to UCI but I wasn’t accepted I know so many people who were waitlisted here as well Last week I received an email from UCR, indicating that I was accepted. I am highly considering attending here. Best of luck to all who are waitlisted.
does anyone know how housing work if we do get off the waitlist:?
Yeah i went to highlander day and they said something about waiting until you get accepted to do the online application for housing. Best of luck to all of us!
@college001 I read on the Freshmen Waitlist FAQ that the guaranteed housing deadline is extended for those who get admitted off the wait list.
@college001 I have no idea. That is my main concern if I do get in to UCR. According to what I heard, the housing deadline is May 10. However, waitlisted applicants won’t hear back until mid-May. Hopefully they would still have some plan worked out for those of us on the waitlist.
Thanks guys ! Where are you guys planning to dorm of admitted and what major ?
