When do they start giving information on richmond scholars?
@busyybee Semifinalist notifications should start in the next couple weeks and will be done in waves through the end of January. Note that those who aren’t selected for semifinals are NOT notified.
If you aren’t a Richmond scholars semifinalist, you can still get into the school, correct?
@gcmac526 yes, of course. Over 6k students apply by the scholars deadline (ED plus RD applicants who submit early) and only approximately 400-450 semifinalists are chosen. Those remaining 5.5k students have just as much a chance of being admitted as the rest of of the applicants (EDII and RD). To put the population of students applying for scholars in perspective, UR only has about 10k applicants to begin with (that leaves 4k that don’t apply for scholars).
My daughter heard on Dec. 16th that she is a Richmond Scholar semi-finalist. You have 10 days to submit all necessary paperwork. Good luck to all.

My daughter applied RD, Nov. 30th. Act:31, gpa:4.34 (w- all gpa’s are weighted) SAT Subject test-Bio: 730, very strong recommendations, IB student, ec’s: theater, chorus, NHS, very strong spider essay, URM
Has anyone become a finalist yet? When do you think that we’ll hear something? Also, if you’re not chosen do you recieve any notice?
@LMHLAW3 they usually don’t start announcing finalists until at least mid February. All semi finalists are notified first and then they need to review all the semi finalist submissions. You will not get your finalist notification until after your mid year report is received, since all finalists also receive their acceptance when they’re notified.
I believe you are notified if you are not selected as a finalist, but I could be wrong.
