Class of 2020 RD Dicussion

@EmoryMom2019 Thanks for the input! :smiley:

I am a first-year student at Emory who got in RD last year. It is obviously much more difficult to get in this way than ED1 or ED2, but if you have an average or higher SAT and GPA for Emory, you stand a very good chance of being accepted. Good luck everybody!

Did you guys get Mid year report on your TO DO list ?

Yes, our school hasn’t sent them out yet.

yeah…my school says they can’t send them out until feb 25th.

Good luck everyone! I’m terrified for all of my out of state colleges o: What do you guys think the stats need to be for an Asian female living in Florida to get into Emory on RD though?

Hey guys, has anyone else received an email urging them to look into athletics at Oxford? Just wondering.

(Yes, I know that it probably means nothing.)

@NotAMathlete That’s interesting. Are you a varsity athlete?

Has anyone done their CSS Profile yet?

@SnapApp Yes.

@NotAMathlete Congrats! I would take it as a good sign!

How much more easier is it to get into oxford than the main campus?

@collegeeeeeeeee I think it is easier to get into oxford. My friend had like a 34 on the ACT and didn’t get accepted to Emory but got into Oxford. But then again, another one of my friends also got accepted to both Emory AND Oxford like me but I’m pretty sure she didn’t have as high the stats. To be honest, I think it’s all in the Essay. This is why I chose to apply to Emory (or part of the reasons) because they seemed to not focus on Stats as much as what your essay was. I was RD but the other two were ED 1 and 2 respectively.

and this is in reference to this year as in I am also the class of 2020 :slight_smile: if that helps shed some light on the aspect.

@BlackHuntress wait so you applied RD and you heard back already?
Also, I applied RD on December 9th and I have yet to hear back. I’m pretty sure I did not get in but it was worth a shot. I have a 28 ACT score ( 34 in the english section, but a 23 in the math, 29 in the reading and a 27 for the science) as well as a 29 for the writing portion and a 3.5 w-GPA. My common app essay was probably a 8.5/10. And my Emory essay was a 10/10. I have extremely good recommendations and I have been involved in numerous volunteer organizations as well as being an EMT for my community. I’m also a Varsity-level athlete. As someone who has been accepted, do you think I got in? I know my stats are lower than most who get in, but it is to my understanding that they may accept a lower demographic to balance out the school.

@BlackHuntress I’m assuming you got in as an Emory Scholar?

I received an email from Emory asking for a dance supplement… Would it be wise to look into it as a sign of any sort?I’m not quite sure why they would want it this late past the deadline…

@52balletvieta I got a request for a vocal supplement about a month ago. I think they just want to see proof of your abilities

@SnapApp Thanks! I just find it really odd that they requested it this late. I hope this means my academics weren’t too horrible that they absolutely had to reject me off the bat :wink:

@52balletvieta That’s very true! Good luck! :slight_smile:
