just got accepted! got the letter in the mail. I’m from PA btw
NJ, didn’t get anything. Very confused.
Does anyone have any information on Spring admissions? How will starting in the Spring affect financial aid?
Acceptance received in OH today!!
No rejections posted so can we assume those who haven’t gotten anything in the mail have been rejected?
@KLWoodlands Definitely not! People will still be receiving letters throughout this week and next.
I was thinking that too. I live in Virginia and nothing yet.
guys, PLEASE post your stats when you get your decision!! it would really help those of us waiting to hear to compare our stats!! thanks!
Here’s the way to look at an offer of spring admission.
Offering spring admission pads the university’s fall admission statistics. If you’re offered spring admission, they want you, but they don’t want you as badly as they want the people they offer fall admission. Maybe your test scores are a bit low, maybe your GPA is a bit low, maybe you miss on the geographic/racial/gender identity/socio-economic profile they’re looking for or whatever else. The admission decision making process is a bit of a black box.
It’s a win-win as long as you are willing to take the deal. The university gets the boost in its statistics, you get an internship, college credit, etc. Bottom line is you will tell people that you attended and graduated from AU in 4 years. None of this will matter when you graduate, or 5 years after that, or 20 years after that.
If you aren’t willing to take the deal, you free up space for someone else and you get to move on to something else you prefer. Still a win-win.
Live in MD but didn’t get letter today! Logged onto account yesterday and enrollment page says congratulations, etc and financial letter and offers are listed, but I don’t want to announce anything to family and friends until I have that letter in my hand. It’s so tempting to call admissions b/c it’s so hard to be patient! Argh!
I just saw this on the au admissions tumblr page…
They have some great information on it btw
Q: Once an acceptance letter is received, how soon can we log on to a student portal and accept or decline a financial award or do we do this in the prospective portal?
A: Hello, if admitted you should be able to create your student portal now. You can start here: https://my.american.edu/apps/tech/accountCreation/createAccount.cfm
american university rd accpetan rate this year is between 31-28 got so much harder to get into
Accepted in Ohio today! with 11k scholarship and nice financial aid!!
I’m fro OH too! @Glav22 what area do you live in?
Friendly reminder to post SAT/ACT, GPA, and other stats with your acceptance, if that’s something your comfortable with.
Also my stats (accepted RD): 30 ACT, 4.0 unweighted GPA, 5/350 class rank, female, 4 years of 2 varsity sports, student government, NHS, internship, lots of volunteer/mentorship/awards, etc.
ugh then anyone who can’t make a portal is rejected…???
I don’t think we should jump to that conclusion.
