(oops, I mistyped @marg928 above as 926! Sorry!)
Very cool, congrats!
Sorry I posted the same message twice…I find the iPhone app very glitchy!
Did Rutgers already send out callback invitations?
I believe they should be coming this week. I haven’t heard about anyone receiving anything yet.
I was wondering the same @Isaroo although that’s the only audition my D came out of feeling she didn’t do her best.

@marg928 NYU does not encourage auditioning. Pace is Ok with it.
While it is certainly true that NYU does not encourage auditioning/working while in school, I know of several people who have done things - generally the solution is to take an “academic semester” (not be taking BFA studio classes)
@Ducky312 well my older D is a dance major at Pace and she and many other student went there because they were told they would be allowed to audition outside of school. It ended up being a lie…she’s a senior now and each year the director makes it harder and harder for them to be able to. I don’t trust them honestly. I went to the info session on 2/4 when my D auditioned and I thought they said you couldn’t but if she’s accepted I will speak to them about it.
FYI my older D does have a classmate in Hamilton right now but he’s definitely the exception. He’s a dance major.
When my S auditioned at Pace (class of 2018), the “you can audition while you’re here” was a huge hook for them and they sold it pretty hard (especially after he called them once he was admitted). He was really, really on the fence - he wanted to keep his hat in the ring but ultimately chose to go elsewhere. Interesting that it doesn’t really translate. I can certainly see if you are cast in your college productions, there is 0 time for outside anything!!
I think that even schools that say they encourage outside auditions will pull back if it inconveniences them. My kid has asked a couple of times for permission to skip the casting pool and been denied. (And no, it wasn’t because they were saving a starring role for him…he got minor parts both times.)
This is a great reason to possibly consider a BA over a BFA. My daughter has auditioned outside of school on more than one occasion.
There are all kinds of weird, political, inexplicable things that happen with college casting at conservatories, that’s for sure. You won’t hear people talking about it here, in public, but boy get people offline…
