Class of 2021 (Discussing application season, sharing, venting)

@bromquest Thanks for this. I think I’m going to call Rutgers tomorrow, because they haven’t responded to my emails.

If it wouldn’t be too much trouble, I was wondering how much interaction there is between the MFA and BFA students at Rutgers? Has it been a positive or negative for your S?

Still very curious about Elon. Does anyone get into this school? They talked about their super scoring system at audition. Does anyone know how many are admitted? We know how many choose to go, but what’s their yield? Since it’s such a great program, I’m assuming only those that scored two tens actually get accepted.

@isaroo I PM’d you. The BFAs and MFAs work very closely, are in most classes together, and work as a professional theatre company would. It’s been an incredibly positive experience that has really pushed them to grow as actors. I’m biased of course, but MGSA is amazing. Feel free to message me if you have any other questions.

Thanks so much @bromquest !

I’m getting very annoyed and impatient waiting to hear from Chapman. She applied Early Action, auditioned on 1/21 and still nothing. I have heard of three students who were already notified…two of them auditioned the same date as my D and heard back within days. What the heck?

@marg928 I know nothing about Chapman specifically. However some programs notify the definite “no’s” or “yes’” earlier and hold onto those in between as they are waiting to see all the auditions before making final decisions. It is annoying though. I feel your pain

@marg928 and @ANJALU I decided to look up some “comforting” platitudes about waiting like "A watched pot never boils, or the like. I found this one and I really needed the laugh!!

“Patience, grasshopper," said Maia. “Good things come to those who wait.”

“I always thought that was ‘Good things come to those who do the wave,’” said Simon. "No wonder I’ve been so confused all my life.”

LOL…I’m being patient with the schools who haven’t notified anyone but it’s just very irritating to hear of a couple of students being accepted to a program where the vast majority haven’t heard anything…it’s weird. I had my D email the admissions counselor today so hopefully she will get some insight.

That’s one of the things that sucks about this process. Some people have it easy. Most don’t.

Another quote repeated in our house…
“If it doesn’t open, it’s not your door.”

^^^yeah, that!

My D was accepted into UNCSA today! She got the new via phone call. I think someone in this thread has a child at UNCSA right now, yes? If so, can you give me any information about what types/amounts of talent scholarships they offer? My D was told today that that news would be coming later.

Wow!! That’s amazing! I still haven’t heard anything either way.

WOW that is so exciting @Janine1. Still no rejection letter here, but no phone call yet either. I think it’s @bfahopeful 's D that goes there…

My D got a reply back from Chapman. They said their BFA applicants will be notified on a rolling basis and they plan on sending out the next round of decisions in the next week or so! That makes me even more confused as to how someone who auditioned same day as my D heard two weeks ago already but perhaps it has to do with each admissions officer’s workload. Maybe the woman who handles NJ is just backed up…

Did your daughter’s application tracker update?

@WhiteRaven1 – did your UNCSA rejection come in mail or email? We are still waiting…

And @WhiteRaven1 and @Janine1 – when were your UNCSA audition dates?

At the info session for the UNCSA audition the director specifically said he will be making phone calls with acceptances.

Wonder if he is making all the calls today
