@theatremom16 I would like to know too! Although it’s too late to add schools at this point!
We didn’t consider any schools in the midwest…probably a bad idea in hindsight but when your kid has California on the brain, it’s kind of hard to sell them on the midwest!
@daughtersdreams UNCSA is another school that has voice and dance in the program. Praying she gets off the waitlist!
@theatremom16 That’s great! My D visited last year but didn’t like the campus setting, so didn’t apply this year. Maybe that was a mistake – but too late now. Glad your D is getting the best of both worlds!
@marg928 I have the opposite problem. We’re from California and I couldn’t get my S to apply to anything closer than UNC. Most are east coast schools. As a parent, I think about expensive flights and long travel days to visit the opposite coast or to bring him home for holidays.
Question about PACE decisions for Acting BFA – I don’t recall them saying anything about when or how she’d be notified when my D auditioned on Feb. 4th. Anyone know?
Finally found my the answer to my Pace decision question on their website. It says:Decision letters from Pace Performing Arts are mailed throughout March, provided you have been accepted academically to Pace.
So we’ll just keep hounding the mailman!
My husband called Pace a couple of days ago to check on something administrative with our D’s application and they volunteered letters go out after second week of March. I think I’ve read on CC they have called accepted applicants in the past.
@CATenorMom we live in CA and my D was the same way. She was determined to go out of state. I absolutely insisted she at least include CalArts and Chapman which she did so we’ll see. CalArts is literally a 30 minute drive from our house!
@sopranomtmom I can’t believe we still haven’t heard from Chapman! What the heck? One of the MTCA girls heard a week after NY Unifieds, same day my D auditioned!
@daughtersdreams the director for Pace BFA acting made acceptance calls last year --right around that first week of march. I think he did so over several days.
Pace also does alternates and waitlist. And they will pull from both. Lots of movement there as kids commit to various schools.
@marg928 Chapman was a very strange audition for my daughter so she really didn’t know what to think when she left the room. They actually seemed very focused on her appearance, more so than her acting which made her very self conscious. She is quite a pretty young woman and they seemed to be focusing on that over her actual talent. She didn’t really know what to make of it - on one hand flattered (a little creeped out though) on the other hand wishing the conversation was more about her actual performance. All in all she found the whole interaction odd.
Thanks for the Pace process updates! We’d been wondering. Hopefully we will hear soon. D auditioned on 1/20 or 21…can’t remember exactly. What a whirlwind the last couple of months have been!
What about NYU Tisch? Anyone familiar with their notification process/schedule?
NYU is always the last one, right on April 1st. You hear which studio a couple of weeks later.
NYU is often one of the last- but the last couple years they have released a few days before April 1st, my D’s year it was the last Friday in March. If they follow that pattern it would be March 31st- so not a big help. One nice thing is that everyone gets info at same time- an email telling you to check your portal
@sopranomtmom I’ve heard that from quite a few kids. My D was in and out at NY Unifieds and she really didn’t have anything positive to say about it. In contrast she auditioned for Cornish right before that and right across the hall and found them so engaging. The girl who went after my D felt the same way. And a mom/daughter we met at both CMU audition and Pace felt the same way. Actually the daughter thought the audition was “shady” LOL! The girl who was already accepted from MTCA is a beautiful blond. If you look at some of the Chapman videos in general, all the girls look beautiful and blond! Where did your D audition?
@sopranomtmom was your daughter auditioning for the screen acting major at Chapman? I had thought my son’s experience was due to the fact that it was his only screen acting audition. They focused a little bit on his appearance too but not in a sketchy way (he is a boy though They did however ask for his Shakespeare Theater piece after he was done. He said it was a different experience but he wasn’t put off by it at all.
Son is a Junior BFA Acting major at Otterbein (redirected after auditioning for MT) and will perform in his 3rd musical this Spring. He dances daily and has private voice lessons. Students audition for all shows, including the Dance Concert. Son has never been cast in the Dance Concert, and in fact fell twice during the audition his first year, but this year he thought he did a “decent” job, lol.
Pace still has auditions this weekend.
@ANJALU @sopranomtmom My D auditioned for the Screen Acting program at Chapman. I really wondered how they could evaluate for that in a 10 minute audition in a tiny room. In contrast she also auditioned for Pace’s Acting for FTVC and there was an actual screen test involved. The whole audition for Pace took MUCH longer and was way more involved.
