@Jkellynh17 Ha–just sent you a PM!
@marg928 regarding USC postcard, invites come out right before acceptance packages so you wouldn’t receive it until sometime at the end of next week.
CourtneyTheatre, please do consider Otterbein BA. Son is a Junior BFA Acting major who was re-directed after audition for MT. He loves the school, his peers, and the faculty. BA students are cast in MainStage productions, and take many courses with BFAs. The learning environment is both challenging and nurturing. Please feel free to PM me.
@CourtneyTheatre - Please don’t let yourself get down! You are far from the only one feeling the sting of multiple rejections - it’s so easy/pleasant/relieving for people to share good news, that it may SEEM that everyone has so much better luck than you, but that is far from true! My D was just rejected by Emerson, which brings her total rejections to 5 of her auditioned programs in addition to being rejected ED to Northwestern. Each one brings a new form of heartbreak, but also helps to shape her resiliance regarding the options she is left with, which lately has included possibly taking a gap year and trying again next year with more focused preparation.
You might appreciate reading this short article regarding the author’s opinion of the hidden value of attending a small school not necessarily known for it’s theater program - http://www.onstageblog.com/columns/2015/6/6/the-truth-behind-small-theater-programs?rq=theater%20program
Keep in mind that there are amazing Acting MFA programs out there that you could apply for after experiencing an undergraduate education that focuses on something completely different! Over a year ago, my D had a very good meeting with a current working actor, playwright and Professor, whose strongest advice to my aspiring actor kid was to NOT study theater or acting at the undergraduate level. She strongly believes that an education focusing anywhere else along with the college experience of people she would befriend, learn from and live with in the formative 4 years after high school would do more to shape a great actor than learning the best techniques in the most prestigious BFA programs. One professional’s opinion, but it is worth considering.
Keep moving forward - you’ll get there!
Someone posted this on the MT side. IDK if they offer a BFA Acting, but maybe reposting here will help someone:
“Still looking for a program??? Emory & Henry is in rural south western Virginia. They offer a BFA in musical theatre, Rolling admission and you can submit audition online. Small school, very friendly with very generous academic and artistic aid. The have a relationship with The Barter Theatre and beautiful new theatre facilities. Students and teachers very friendly and welcoming. If you are still hoping for a BFA program this may fit the bill for some of you. For those that haven’t gotten that elusive “yes”- please know that we are rooting for you & your kids!!”
@marg928 We got the save the date card too, but no invitation yet. They emailed me 2 weeks ago asking for updated financial aid info, but said on the email it didn’t imply that she was admited. But do they really go thru financial aid info on everyone that fills out an app? thats a lot of financial aid stuff for a lot of people who aren’t admitted, so I would like to tell myself its good luck, although my D says no way she got in. Have to wait until next week UGH! So sorry to hear about your D’s friend’s mother, that is so tragic. I will keep them in my prayers
THanks @kaf011 USC is such a long shot so I was wondering if anyone had gotten the invite yet. If they had, then I would just assume a no and mentally move on! Someone else ^^^ said it won’t be coming until next week right before acceptances so I guess that’s one more reason to tackle the mailman!
Does anyone have any updates on PACE BFA Acting? I heard some calls were made for the MT but not sure if that is also true of the acting. My S is academically accepted into Pace but we have heard nothing from the BFA program. He called today and was told letters go out next week. But is that the thanks but no thanks letters?? I just don’t know whether Pace is still making decisions. @marg928 there are just no words for that poor family, prayers for them.
@twomonkeysnme my D was called for PACE FTVC a week ago. She also auditioned for BFA Acting but I assume she was not accepted to that program since it appears they make you choose if you were accepted to more than one. Pace is closed this week so you never know maybe they are not finishing calls until they get back. My daughter received her call on the last day before they closed for break.
@twomonkeysnme - Take this with a grain of salt, as it is secondhand info, but one of the students said she spoke to Pace and said they stated calls had been made and that the rest of the notifications would be in letters that were waitlist/alternate/rejections. But again, it’s not over till you have the decision in hand!
@marg928 and @stagedoormama thank you for the information. I was concerned it would not be a good letter, if it arrives by snail mail. FYI… I did get and email from his coach that said Barbara at CMU will begin calling Sunday and into Monday,
Has anyone else not yet heard anything at all from SUNY Purchase BFA Acting? Or does anyone from previous years have any wisdom about this? My D didn’t get a rejection letter when others were getting those a couple of weeks ago, and she also didn’t get an acceptance email when others were getting those late last week and early this week. Is there maybe one last wave of rejection letters coming, or what might be going on here?
@Janine1 was your daughter videotaped at the audition?
No, she wasn’t @bisouu, and for that reason we’ve assumed all along that SUNY Purchase was a “No”. But we can’t understand why the rejection letter hasn’t come already?
3 years ago we got our rejection letter the first week of April…so not sure what they are doing this year.
Great to know @bisouu! My D had already assumed a rejection here and moved on, and this delayed rejection letter business was making us all consider opening up a slim bit of hope…for maybe a waitlist spot? But hope sounds ill-advised, which is good to know! Thank you!
We live on the west coast so maybe our letter took longer to arrive…I just remember going on spring break (last week of March) and still not having an answer from them. They were one of the schools we had planned to visit over spring break. Glad we didn’t. When we got home on April 1 there was still no letter. It came a few days later.
@twomonkeysnme The rep from @PacePerfArts posted this message on the MT Schools - Pace board earlier today in response to similar questions:
Hi all. The first round of letters left my desk on Monday. Tuesday was a snow day and the campus was closed. A large batch was printed yesterday and is waiting to be picked up by our mailroom. I’m working on getting all letters for all eight programs by next week - which is historically on-schedule. The faculty did make some congratulation calls last week before they left for Spring Break, but I each program head handle this on their own time and they are away this week. -Wayne
So does that mean that not all phone calls were made?
@efikids I’m holding out a small bit of hope that you may be right.
