It’s supposed to be a very tough, competitive environment. I think my S used the phrase “Hunger Games” when he told me why he wasn’t applying.
The good news is that I just called and found out Purchase is still reviewing the second choice major selections, i.e., the BA Theater.
@marg928 I just read an article that said the Dean of the school of the arts at Purchase left and is the now new President of CalArts. Good timing for your daughter!
I just figured out that there are TWO difference threads here with similar names and that is why I’ve been so confused when trying to follow posts and reply to posts. Here are names of the two threads:
Class of 2021 (sharing, venting, etc)
Class of 2021 (Discussing application season, sharing, venting)
Can these be combined? Or Renamed to something LESS confusing?
Wait! Now I see the difference . . . . (sharing, venting, etc.) is in the Musical Theatre forum. The other one is Drama/Theatre. Still confusing, but at least I get it now.
@daughtersdreams I started this one because several people were commenting in the Musical Theater forum that I should post in the Theater forum…my answer was that the MT forum was much more active and I like everyone on there. That being said, I decided to start one in the Theater/Drama forum anyway but I post in both.
@marg928- it’s cool to swing both ways!!! :))
So my D just got an email from U Tampa inviting her to an accepted students event…hmmm we never got anything from them that she was accepted and she never auditioned or sent in a video audition. I finally figured out how to log in and see that she was accepted on Jan 31. Very strange…no email…nothing! And I’m so confused! I thought she had to audition but it says accepted for Theater. I’m going to have my D call there. We are going to Tampa in March for my nephew’s wedding so we can check it out then.
@marg928 LOL! Swingin’ and hoping to increase the odds!
We got so many weird things…“Congratulations on your acceptance to LIU’s Honors College” (She didn’t apply) and “We look forward to your interview next week in Chicago”. “I think this is a mistake I auditioned at NYC Unifieds” reply… " Yes you are right, sorry. Good luck with your college search" lol. Ugh…I can’t wait until this is over and she has an acceptance to somewhere she would like to go.
LOL @samigaga! I am suspicious it’s a mistake also but I logged into the portal and it says accepted which is different from a generic email. I’m wondering if maybe I sent her monologues to them in a video and just don’t remember…
@marg928 You probably did and congrats! Is your daughter done with auditions? We have a few left. AMDA on Saturday, Fredonia and AADA in late March. I noticed that we have been doing a lot of the same auditions on the same days as you, but have been in opposite sessions.
@samigaga Whoops I think I posted on the wrong thread earlier re UT. I emailed them and they told me the letter is in the mail with the academic acceptance with scholarship but it’s separate from the Theater acceptance. I just put together three monologues and uploaded them to Vimeo, shared with UT and done! We have one more audition at American which my D does not want to attend! I’m making her go though…I’m getting nervous since people are hearing from Chapman and we’ve heard nothing yet. It’s one of her top choices as well as Purchase (rejected) so it can’t hurt to have more choices.
It is wise to do it, just in case. My S is also doing his last audition tomorrow–then the waiting really begins!
My D is auditioning right now for a pilot and I’m sitting in the casting agent’s office looking at all the posters of the movies they’ve casted…big names! Dallas Buyer’s Club, Pitch Perfect, Still Alice, Spotlight…pretty cool they’re getting to see her!
So cool! Break a leg! Is that the right thing to say for a film audition??? @marg928
@marg928 is this a follow up audition for the Xmen pilot? Exciting!
I know exactly what office you are at :))
No @bfahopeful it’s pilot season so she will be auditioning a lot. She has another one on Monday.
That is so fun! Best wishes to her. What a great experience
