Class of 2021 REJECTS :(

I got my rejection email last night from UW Seattle. I’m first of all heartbroken, but honestly surprised too because I am a running start student earning my AA, many extracurriculars such as sports and community service, decent GPA and SAT scores, in-state, and I’m Pacific Islander/ Asian and I know how much UW values diversity. I guess I just wasn’t what they were looking for :frowning: UW was my dream school and I couldn’t picture myself anywhere else. Anyways feel free to add to this thread if you were rejected from UW or if you would like to input.

I was waitlisted. Very disappointed because I was accepted to far more selective schools, yet UW was my first choice. 32 ACT (33ss), 4.2 W, 3.9 UW, strong letters of rec, essays, and ECs. OOS PA.

Don’t know how some very qualified people got rejected, like yourself. You will, however, do wonderful things wherever you end up!

Thank you! That means a lot. I wish I understood UW’s system. It seems very random and it’s true, very qualified people are rejected and it makes no sense… anyways I hope you’re accepted from the waitlist :slight_smile: @sarah2499

Someone told me that in the rejection letter they cited a 15% acceptance rate (6700/44000) is that true?

No, those are the numbers for expected enrollment and total freshmen applications. The acceptance rate should be similar to last year, when around 43,500 applied:

62.7 instate;
45.3 overall; and
38.8 nonresident (OOS and international).

I haven’t received anything yet, but I think it would be most likely a rejection letter. My GPA is 3.25 SAT 1200, which makes me a very weak candidate. In fact, I am planning to go to another U since UW is probably not going to welcome me. Many of my friends got their letters of acceptance, and most of them have decent GPA and high SAT (1400+). Compare to them, I am very sad that I didn’t get into UW because it was my dream school too. Many Asian parents (including my own) encourage their children to attend UW for that it is the most prestigious and high-class U around this area. I am facing the pressure that is piling on me, and that I cannot feel relief due to the delayed notification.
