Class of 2021 (sharing, venting, etc)

@MomofMTBoy Last year BoCo emails came out 3/25.

Thank you @ bisouu. I often tell her about your daughter and how happy she is. Thanks for always knowing what to say☺️

That’s a tough one @bluestickynote especially so late in the process – congrats for being on hold for that long!! Hang in there!!

@MomofMTBoy last year we received our boco admit on March 25th I believe – fingers crossed!!

Does anyone have any idea when NYU accepted students day is in April? Do they do anything for the Tisch students specifically? @toowonderful You mentioned they can’t sit in on classes or see the studios they are placed in? When we toured NYU we didn’t get to see any of the facility where they practiced or had classes or stages. They did an information session with Chris Andersson and general tour of the school

Am I the only one waiting to hear about MSM?

@broadwayboy223 Still waiting here.

@kaf011 We went to NYU accepted student Weekend on the Square last year. Tisch school of the Arts had a program on one of the two days. They had a general session for the students accepted into the Tisch School of the Arts. They then broke the students into groups by department (drama, dance, gaming, film, etc) and took them to separate areas where they had a general info session with department heads and faculty. All parents stayed behind for a Tisch questions and answers session. Then they brought the parents into the individual department meetings to join the kids. The kids received their studio placements in email the night before. They were broken into their studios and had the opportunity to hear from head of the studio. The Drama session was not in the Drama building so there was not a tour of those areas. NYU also had activities including campus tours and the dorms were all open to see. The dates are on the NYU website - http://www.nyu.edu/admissions/undergraduate-admissions/admitted-students/weekend-on-the-square.html - looks like Tisch is Sat April 22. Also we did ask and were told they are not able to sit in on classes.

@theatrical I hate that our kids feel less than because of these redirections! There is no physical way that they can all fit into the programs offered and some of our kids just get the short end of the stick no matter what they do and it often is the luck (or lack there of) of the draw. Tell her to wallow a bit but pick herself up, dust herself off and move forward. This business sucks, and she will go to hundreds and hundreds of auditions in her career and never know why she wasn’t cast. She has to be confident in herself to look to the next one and the next one.

Just curious about all the posts regarding emails people have gotten from NYU notifying of the opening of the admissions portal? S auditioned in Chicago but has not gotten that email. Any ideas why? I wouldn’t think it has anything to do with acceptance/non acceptance.

thanks @MTMom98 just being proactive in case we get in for making my schedule in April. Even if my D gets in we would need some serious financial aid to afford it, which I heard NYU isn’t well known for.

@Mommadrama76 Tech notified him via snail mail. The letter was just the acceptance into the program, didn’t say the scholarship amount. Hopefully we will know that soon.

I saw a saying posted somewhere today that said “This too shall pass. It may pass like a kidney stone but it will pass.” It seemed like it was actually written specifically about this process!

Still waiting on MSM here @broadwayboy223 @freddieggirl

@milmom2 we got the same email from BoCo about transcript. Seems odd so late in the game and we did send it on October. I guess they are doing a final review in admissions before sending out decisions.

@Sarajanine did he check his spam folder? It seems it went out to everyone who applied.

@broadwayboy223 at D’s MSM audition, admissions said they would send emails to check the portal by 4/1.

@Sarajanine The NYU email was directed to all applicants at NYU, not just the drama Dept. Look back at your application acknowledgement email and get the netid they gave and set up the account… And check your spam.

NYU has always said you can’t tell anything from the portal. (In the old days it was called “Albert”. Not sure if it is still called that or not.) But my daughter knew about her admission status from good old Albert before she ever got an email and the only reason I knew to tell her to check was because people here in CC were saying they could see it. And to also comment on @mtmom98’s description of admitted students’ day above. That’s how it should work in theory but my daughter’s year, that “admitted students’ day” happened before any studio placements were emailed which yes, was really stupid. And no, you can’t sit in on classes officially. All of which felt INCREDIBLY stupid and annoying to me at the time.

Did I mention my daughter graduated from NYU Tisch MT last spring? Point being you can be outraged about a LOT of things in this process but at the end of the day, what does your gut say?

@japbmom This emotional roller coaster feels like I’m having PMS, pregnancy and menopause all at once! :)) :(( :open_mouth:
