Yes, why not today!?, @booajo??? hahaha
doubt it would be today. Seems way too early. I guess one can always hope. Guess we’ll check around 5 or 530
Hey kids, I know in previous years WashU has used UPS to send acceptance letters. Students in the last couple of years have been able to see when they were sent on UPS MyChoice. For the last two years, the portals have been updated the day that the acceptance letters were sent via UPS. If you kids could make an account to check when your acceptance letters have been sent, that would be great. Then I can verify when I have officially been rejected.
Thanks and God bless,
Your pal Matt.
They update the Wash U portal for acceptances before rejects?? Is that what you mean? Or is there some other portal?
The portal is updated at the same time for both the accepted and rejected. However, prior to the portal updating, the Admissions office sends acceptance letters through UPS, and for those signed of with UPS MyChoice, they will be notified a package from WashU has been sent and will arrive on insert date. From what I can tell, for the last two years, accepted students were notified a package is on its way to their address. On that very evening, the portal was updated with the decision for everyone. So as soon as some kids say that they have a UPS update, we can assume that decisions will likely come out that evening.
UPS, not USPS @matt4isu ?
In previous years, it has been UPS. They may send rejection letters via USPS, however, I do not know for sure. They don’t want to waste money on priority shipping for a rejection letter. I am basing this assumptions on previous years.
are there any athletes who applied RD? Has your recruiting coach told you anything about how much they can help on admission?
I don’t think they send out physical letters for rejections. If you use the UPS method and you see that you are receiving a package, you’re in (to the best of my knowledge).
I agree
how can you check through ups, do you need to make an account
You need to make a UPS MyChoice account.
For folks not familiar with UPS MyChoice, once you have that account, when any shipper ships goods to your place, generally you will be notified a day after those goods were picked up and scanned at main UPS hub in that shipper area, so let’s say WAShU ships a UPS package today with next day delivery, then sometime today late evening, you may get a UPS notification for delivery tomorrow (if it was 2 day delivery then it would have delivery scheduled for Monday). Key is UPS notifies when label is scanned at UPS main hub in shipper area, not at time of label generation.
FYI - Two years ago, we got a MyChoice notification at around 12:30pm on the day decisions were released.
So if they were releasing decisions, hypothetically (lol), today on the portal, then those who’ve been accepted would receive a UPS notification at some time today. And if they are going to be on the portal tomorrow, then the UPS notification will come some time tomorrow. Correct?
@Winky1 Yes, that would be my guess, if they do it the same way as in the past - That is the way it happened two years ago.
Please post it here if someone gets a notification today at 12:30, I will bless that person.
Why do people think decisions are coming today
I set up an account for my D, and I will certainly let this thread know if an email comes through today or tomorrow or whenever. I’ll be honest, though. She was deferred from ED, and there are some great kids from her high school who are either RD or also deferred ED candidates, and at least 2 are legacies. According to Naviance, a total of about 9 kids applied from her school and none have been accepted yet. I am not optimistic about an acceptance, so my girl may not get an email from UPS. But I will let you know if by chance she does.
Good luck, Everyone! You are all such a smart and creative bunch of kids. You’ll do well wherever you land.
@ak9800, @HoosierDaddy1995 posted a few pages back about some dates from the most recent years. Excluding last year, it’s feasible for decisions to come any day between now and next week some time. No one is guaranteeing it. Just saying it’s objectively and logically possible.
