Class of 2023 MT Artistic Acceptance Notifications: How/When/Where

So excited to hear there’s movement from JMU and Hartt! Congrats to your son’s GF, Nanomama. Both those schools are very high on my daughter’s hoped-for list for MT. So far have one acceptance and one waitlist.

Email from Coastal! YAY!! S got in!

Email from Coastal Carolina today for S. Acceptance to MT BFA!!

@TexasMTDad - this is when the “expected yield” calculation comes into play. We have 4 acceptances so far for males at TCU but you don’t know how many males TCU accepts, only the class size they want. As more perfomers apply to 15 and 20 schools it has to be really HARD on these schools to know how many applicants to accept because every performer with 6 acceptances is going to have to turn down 5 programs. With these super small class sizes and the huge number of schools many of the folks on here have applied to - wow, I don’t know how the schools do it. No surprise so many programs do waitlists.

@lithpool and @Kristiern1 CONGRATS!!! Was it a personal email from the department or automated? Nothing here yet… fingers crossed.

@MTmama42 email from Kenneth Martin Theatre Chair

@Nanomama Congrats to your S’s girlfriend. My D is waiting to hear from Hartt after auditioning at Chicago Unifieds. Do you happen to know how she was notified from Hartt?

If anyone has questions on TCU, feel free to message me and I’ll do my best to get answers for you.

Typically, they make about 18 program offers for MT, if I remember correctly (from the info session we attended). Of the 18 offers for MT, they end up with about 12 accepting. They do NOT do a waitlist, or at least they never have before. If they are interested in you at the audition, I think they do a pretty good job talking with you to see if you are a good fit for TCU and the program. It seems to work.

If you haven’t visited the campus and sat in on classes, definitely do. If you were accepted, they definitely think it’s a fit for you.

The senior class I think is down to 8 MT and 9 Acting. I think they have had some students leave the school for personal reasons—don’t know of any who went to different MT programs, but may be off my radar. Their website data set says that 43 are enrolled in BFA MT for all four years. Definitely opportunities to get cast on campus and professionally in the DFW area.

(Side note, With so many people applying to more schools, wondering if more schools will have larger waitlists).

@loribelle we’ll see… My son has done shows with a few of the current students there. I just think he wants to venture off further than 30 miles from home. Not sure what the money situation is going to look like, either. But he’s definitely not going there at MSRP.

@TexasMTDad Totally understand the venturing away…just make sure you budget for airfare!

I don’t know if you sat in on any info sessions, but if you decide it’s in your top two, they will really work hard on the financial aid. Dr. Parker is a straight shooter and really surprised us with his personalized contact and making it work without playing any games—and not loans.

@loribelle Thank you for the information! We’d like to plan a visit soon to escape the frigid Iowa weather. Glad to hear they work with you on the financial side. Their sticker price is definitely on the high end.

sorry to press the issue, but no one has heard anything more from Pace?

@MTMomma13 we haven’t. I suspect that once the calls go out, the kids on FB will know about it and then the parents of those kids will post it here.

My daughter got into Coastal Carolina MT! Email this morning.

My son is MT, hasn’t heard from any schools yet.

@Nanomama fingers crossed for some communication for him soon. The waiting process is nerve wracking!

Is Florida state notifying rejected students?

Anyone heard a no from TCU?

@Tnkdd My son’s girlfriend got an email from Hartt.

My D received an acceptance to Coastal Carolina today ? Email from Kenneth Martin.
